1 COLOUR INTRODUCTION

Castrol Green Pantone® 348C White Castrol Red Pantone® 485C

Castrol is recognised as a green, red and white brand. Using our primary colours in the correct proportions is key to maintaining this recognition across all markets. Other brand elements support our use of colour: the Roundel system enables our three primary colours to remain in the correct proportion to each other. The 3D Effect makes the colours more distinctive than before.

This section outlines how to use the Castrol colour palette both as part of the Roundel system or on its own.

In addition to the primary colour palette there is a limited range of neutral and brighter colours available to enhance and add definition to layouts and information graphics. These should be used in support of the core colours and should not dominate.

It is essential that the primary colours (green, red and white) are correctly specified and accurately reproduced to ensure that the consistency of colour is achieved across all media.

The process colour specification is an indication only. The final colours must match Pantone® 348C (Castrol green) and Pantone® 485C (Castrol red).

The vinyl specifications should only be used for non-illuminated signs and fascias.

The acrylic specifications are suitable for both illuminated and non-illuminated signs.

The combination of green, white and red is one of the Castrol brand’s most valuable visual assets, forming the foundation to the identity system.

Maintaining the correct proportions of colour is the key to managing the Castrol brand identity:

• Always ensure the dominant colour is green. It should however be balanced out with red and some white

• Use the Roundel system to manage the correct proportions of colour

• Use the 3D Effect within the colours to maintain the new, polished, premium look and feel of the brand

• Areas of red should be placed above or to the left of the green area

• White should be used as a divide between the areas of red and green

• Green can be used without red as a general background colour

• Green is the background colour for the Castrol logo

For further detail see the Roundel section within Visual elements.

Always use original artwork.

USING THE PRIMARY COLOURS3

White plays a more dominant role within brochures and leaflets:

• Use white as the background colour to all printed material

• Use green and red to highlight content

• Ensure the proportion of green is always more than red

For further examples of using the Roundel and colours in layout, see the Literature section within Applications.

Always use original artwork.
