grandfather of Beauchamp Construction Co., E ighty years ago, Victor Beauchamp, Inc.’s current CEO James B.D. Beauchamp, established Victor R. Beauchamp, Incorporated in our nation’s growing capital, Washington D.C. In 1936, our country was on the eve of its greatest challenge to date, the second World War. On the home front, while the country’s young men were preparing to join the military effort, our women flocked to the workforce to keep up with the growing demand for domestic production to support the war effort. It was with this backdrop that Victor Beauchamp and his wife Helen (pictured top right), rooted and grew their engineering and construction business. In a post-war nation, the economy and population of the U.S. boomed, quite literally, during the “baby boom” era of 1946-1964. Proud off its victory against the Axis powers, homegrown companies such as Beauchamp Construction helped construct our nation’s buildings and infrastructure. In 1954, in one of our company’s crowning achievements, we constructed The Marine Corps War Memorial (also called the Iwo Jima Memorial), a military memorial statue outside the walls of the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The Memorial is dedicated to all personnel of the United States Marine Corps who have died in the defense of their country since 1775. The design of the massive sculpture by renowned artist Felix de Weldon was based on the iconic WWII photo taken during the Battle of Iwo Jima. In 1980, with this long and proud history already behind us, Beauchamp Construction Co., Inc. opened a new chapter and expanded to the South Florida community, where we have been a Miami mainstay ever since. Constructing and restoring such landmarks in the area as the Miami Beach Boardwalk, the historic Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, 121 Alhambra Towers (pictured left), 2020 Ponce, Opera Tower and the Miami International Airport’s Regional Commuter Facility; Beauchamp Construction, in its most recent 30 years has become an award winning and leading general contractor completing hundreds of projects in our South Florida communities. Surviving wars, depressions, booms and busts, Beauchamp Construction continues to grow and prosper. Today, Beauchamp Construction prides itself on the same core principles and values as our Founder, Victor Beauchamp did 80 years ago – “Capability, Integrity and Value”. We look forward to providing our clients with many more years of delivering the highest quality buildings in our communities. 2100 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Suite 825, Coral Gables, FL 33134 P: 305.445.0819 | www.beauchampco.com | CGC 042059
