St Patricks School
Easter commemorates the resurrection (return to life) of Jesus Christ following his death by crucifixion . It is the most
significant event of the Christian calendar.
On Good Friday, Jesus Christ was executed by crucifixion. His body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave.
The tomb was guarded and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no-one could steal the body. On the
following Sunday, some women visited the grave and found that the stone had been moved and that the tomb was empty.
Jesus himself was seen that day and for days afterwards by many people. His followers realized that God had raised Jesus
from the dead.
Easter celebrates the promise of life in the face of death. Easter celebrations also reflect on peace and forgiveness, which
has come out of aggression. It is also a time for thinking about suffering, injustice and hardship. Easter is a time for all of us
to take stock and examine our lives and relationships. It is a time of helping others and of seeing a need and fulfilling it.
We thank all of the children and families for a wonderful Term 1. We appreciate all of the voluntary work and
fundraising our families do. This support produces a bounty of goodness and benefits for all at St Patrick’s and reiterates
the importance of community, teamwork and partnerships. A perfect example was our fantastic sports day held yesterday
in Bacchus Marsh. The weather was perfect and the children not only performed very well, but were very respectful and
polite to all. They made me very proud to part of such a wonderful community. There were many ribbons collected on the
day and records broken. The most important part of the day was the participation by the children and the support we
received from parents and grandparents cheering the children along.
I wish you all a very safe holiday and a Happy Easter and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed for an exciting Term 2.

P & F COMMITEE UPDATE - Tuesday 22nd March 2016
On behalf of the P & F Committee we would like to welcome all new students and their families to St Patrick’s and hope everyone
has had an enjoyable first term.
TERM 1
We ran a BBQ for Twilight Sports early in the term. As always, it was a really enjoyable evening for families to relax and catch up
and for the kids to have some fun.
This year Hot Lunches are being held on the third Friday of the month. Thanks to Tracey Van Egmond for doing a great job co-ordinating. We also appreciate the help given by parents who cook cakes and help on the day. The kids all think it is fantas-
tic. Please contact Tracey if you can help in the future.
The gardening roster is up and running. We understand families are busy and any help given to keep the school looking good is most appreciated. A list of suggested jobs and the garden shed key is available from Julie at the office. If you see anything
that needs doing please feel free to add to the list.
The school disco was held last month and was a great success. Thanks to all the parents who helped and the kids for their groovy
dance moves, awesome hairdos and good behaviour on the night.
The Parish Festival was another great local event the school was involved in. Narelle Conroy did an amazing job of organising the food and drink canteen and we appreciate her time and effort. Mark Conroy also got to live out his dream of being a deep fryer chef! The team of parents who helped on the day were fantastic and a considerable amount of money was raised for
the school.
The sleeper wall along the footpath is an ongoing project we hope to complete soon. We may be calling on the Dads for their
assistance.
