ST. LUCY ALTAR SOCIETY St Lucy Altar Society will meet this coming Thursday, September 3rd, at 1 PM in the PAC. A short meeting, a time to reconnect with friends and see what is planned for the coming year.
Saint Vincent de Paul Outreach Corner
This weekend, the second collection is for the St. Lucy Confer-ence of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help the poor and needy of our Parish. We will be using these funds to help families with rent, utilities, medicine, food and other expenses.
We want to thank all of the parishioners who contributed to our Backpack Program. We were able to provide 106 backpacks to 49 of the families who have visited the Outreach Office this year.
Auto Donation Program. Call 800-322-8284. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul National Vehicle Donation Program offers a free pickup service. Most cars, boats and RV's, running or not are accepted. All funds from your auto donation are used in Santa Clara County to help those in need. If you donate a vehicle, please also call the St. Lucy Outreach Office and leave your name and phone number. We can then work with the auto donation program to make sure our St. Lucy Conference receives funds from your donation.
If you wish to contribute your time and talent to our ministry please call the Outreach Office at 408-378-8086 and leave your name and phone number. One of our members will contact you.
This week we lift our prayers in gratitude for the gift of faith. We believe, as Catholic Christians, that first and best teachers in the ways of faith are found in the home where parents and the extended family by word and example show the love of God to their children.
The Faith Formation program and the work of St. Lucy parish is to assist and support our families in this important and vital work of love. It is first and foremost an invitation to all families to pray for our chil-dren that they may grow in a full and loving relationship with God through his son Jesus Christ. But we are also asked to support the work of religious education in our parish.
Next weekend we will have a second collection asking four your financial support of the work of evangelization in our parish community. Your gift of treasure helps us to do God’s work and in a gift of thanksgiving in our Eucharistic faith. I would also ask you to pray for the leaders and catechists in our Faith Formation ministry so that our hearts are open to hear the words of God spoken and we may help all our children see the face of Jesus in one another.

Our second collection next weekend is in support of Catholic Education. The donations that you give will help those students and families who are not able to afford the cost of Catholic Education. Catholic education has many benefits that go beyond the academic excellence that is often spoken of by many people. We know that Catholic schools remain the best instrument for the evangelization of our children and families. We know that Catholic schools help our children grow into responsible citizens contributing more volunteer and service to the community on average.
It is our goal at St. Lucy and throughout the Diocese of San Jose that each family that wishes their children to attend a Catholic school have the opportunity to do so and this is what your donation helps to make possible. The reality is, we have a long way to go. Today our families sacrifice greatly to attend our parish school. I with our Principle Mrs. Sue Grover and the rest of the faculty and staff are grateful and humbled by this gift of love.
In this academic year, we pray for the continued success of our parish school and the other Catholic schools in our dio-cese. We pray for all students, families and teachers that they continue to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of our Lord Jesus. God Bless, Fr. Mark
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY St. Lucy is seeking money counters. This is a very important min-istry that few people know about. The money counting ministry counts all the money received at mass and through the parish office each week and prepares the money for deposit. It generally takes about 2 hours per week. Nuestra segunda colecta el próximo fin de semana es para apoyar la Educación Católica. Las donaciones se usan para ayudar a los estudiantes y las familias que no pueden pagar el costo de la educación católica. La educa-ción católica tiene muchos beneficios que van más allá de la excelencia académica. Sabemos que las escuelas católi-cas siguen siendo el mejor instrumento para la evangeliza-ción de nuestros niños y sus familias. Sabemos que las escuelas católicas ayudan a nuestros niños para que se conviertan en ciudadanos responsables que contribuyen con servicio a la comunidad.
Es nuestro objetivo en Santa Lucía y en toda la Diócesis de San José que cada familia que desea que sus hijos asistan a una escuela católica tengan la oportunidad de hacerlo y esto es lo que su donación ayuda a hacer. La realidad es que tenemos un largo camino por recorrer. Hoy en día nuestras familias sacrifican mucho para asistir a nuestra escuela parroquial. Yo y nuestra Directora, Sue Grover, y el resto de la facultad y el personal estamos agradecidos y humillados por este regalo de amor.
En este año académico, oramos por el éxito continuo de nuestra escuela parroquial y las otras escuelas católicas en nuestra diócesis. Esta semana vamos a orar con gratitud por el don de la fe. Creemos, como cristianos católicos, que los primeros y mejores maestros en el camino de la fe se encuentran en el hogar, donde los padres y la familia muestran por medio de la palabra y el ejemplo el amor de Dios a sus hijos.
El programa de la Formación de Fe y el trabajo de la Parroquia de Santa Lucia es ayudar y apoyar a nuestras familias en este importante y vital labor de amor. Es, ante todo, una invitación a todas las
familias para que oren por nuestros hijos para que crezcan en una relación plena y amorosa con Dios por medio de su hijo Jesucristo. Pero también pedimos que apoye el trabajo de la educación religiosa en nuestra parroquia.
El próximo fin de semana tendremos una segunda colecta pidiendo su apoyo financiero en la evangelización en nuestra comunidad parroquial. Su don de tesoro nos ayuda a hacer la obra de Dios, y es un regalo de la acción de gracias en nuestra fe eucarística. También les pido que oren por los líderes y catequistas en nuestro ministerio de la Formación de la Fe para que sus corazones estén abiertos para escuchar las palabras de Dios y puedan ayudar a todos nuestros ni-ños a ver el rostro de Jesús en todos.
