Thank you for your purchase of VATA’s - 2365/2366 Advanced Venipuncture Training Aid™

This model is now made with two of VATA’s newly developed materials, Dermalike II™ and Dermalike V™. The vein pad is made with Dermalike II™, and when used accord-ing to the instructions, offers many unique and improved properties.Some of the properties are:• Themodelisratedfor2400needleaccesses,thoughcustomershavereportedtheir

The veins are made of VATA’s latex free Dermalike V™. This material has properties moresimilartorealveinscomparedtothelatextubingpreviouslyusedonouroriginalAdvancedVenipuntureTrainingAidandstillbeingusedbyothermanufacturers.

The 2365 Advanced Venipuncture Training Aid™ features fourbarelydiscernableblueveinsof3differentdiameters–with the fourthveindeeplyplaced– inasemi-transparent,tissue-likepad.Whenaccessingarealistic“flashback”ofsimulatedbloodconfirmstheproperneedleplacement.Anoptionalcarryingcase,withstoragepouchforsupplies,isavailable(seepage10,0385).

Helpful Hints• Bychangingtheaccesslocationeachtimeandusingasharpnon-burred22gIVCatheter,youcanaccessthe2365model2400times,thoughcustomershavereportedtheirexperienceis2-3timesthisnumber.

• Do not place the Dermalike II™ vein pad in contact with productsmade ofvinylorPVCforprolongedperiodsoftime,asthechemicalsinthemwillcausedegradation of the vein pad.

• Storeflat toavoiddeformation.Checkthatstopcock,bubble trapandbubbletrapcaparesecurelyinplacebeforeclosingcover.Donotstorewithitemsontop of the vein pad as it will take on the impression permanently. Always store with the cover in place over the Dermalike II™ vein pad.

• Therearefourveinsofthreedifferentsizesinthemodel.Thefrontareaofthebasedisplaysfourredcirclesthatarethesamesizeastheinsidediametersoftheveinsforvisualizationofthespaceswhenaccessing.Thelargeveinontheleft is deeply placed. Though the veins may visually appear large, accessing andgettingaflashbackcanbemorechallenging.

• Allveinswillproducearealistic“flashback”whenaccessed.

• ThetissuepadofDermalikeII™isstainresistant.

• Thelifeoftheveinswillbemaximizedbytheuseof20gneedlesinthelargeandmediumveins.Thesmallveinshouldbeaccessedwitha24gorsmallerneedle.

• Avoid theuseofdull orburredneedlesas thesewill damage theveinsandcause premature leakage.

• Dependingonuse,overtime,itmaybecomenecessarytoreplacetheveinpadandveinsofthemodel.ThiscanbedonebycontactingVATACustomerServiceforourrefurbishingservice.

• Thesimulatedbloodprovidedisonlyforuseinmodelsandisnotintendedforanyotheruse.Wedonot recommendusingsimulatedblood item2491and2494withthismodel.

• Oursimulatedblood isstain resistant.Forbest results, rinse fabricwithcoldwaterassoonaspossibleaftercomingincontactwithsimulatedblood.

• Cleaningoftheveinpadisbestdonebywipingwithanalcoholwetted,non-lintingcloth.Thepadshouldbepermitted toairdryand thenpowderedwithcornstarchbabytalc.Anyexcesstalccanberemovedwithadrycloth.Ifatanytimetheveinpadbecomestackytothetouch,talcshouldbeapplied.

1. Placefingerontabandpushintoopen hinged cover.

2. Opencovertoavertical position untilanaudible“click”isheard,confirmingthetop is in the locked position.

3. Removebubbletrapfromholder.

4. Unscrewcapandreplacebubbletrapinto holder.

5. Turnhandleonstopcocktoaverticalposition;modelwillprimeinunder1minute.

6. Modelisprimedwhensimulatedbloodisvisibleinthebottomofthebubbletrap. If model does not prime see next step.

7. If model does not prime automatically, applylightpressuretosimulatedbloodbagtostartthepriming.

1. Removestopcockfromthecover.

2. Removethesimulatedbloodbagfromthe hook on the cover.

3. Placesimulatedbloodbagbelowthelevel of the vein pad and simulatedbloodwilldrainfromthemodelinunder1minute.

4. Drainingiscompletewhennobloodisseenflowingthroughstopcock.

5. Whenthemodeliscompletelydrained, turn the handle on thestopcocktoahorizontalposition.

6. Placethesimulatedbloodbagbackonto the hook in the cover.

7. Snapthestopcockbackintotheholder–anaudible“click”willconfirmproper placement.

8. Removebubbletrapfromcover.

9. Screwcapbackontothebubbletrap.

10.Snapbubbletrapintoholder–anaudible“snap”willconfirmproperplacement.

11.Stabilizebaseandapplyclosingpressure to cover to release from thelockedposition–anaudible“click”willconfirmdisengagement.

12.Anaudible“click”willbeheardwhen the cover isproperly closed.

The model is supplied with a simulated bloodbagcontaining80cc.

Whensimulatedbloodneedstobeaddedtothebag,closethestopcockbyturningtoahorizontalposition.Removebagfromhook in cover. Position the needleless adapter in a superior position. Attach the prefilledsyringetotheneedlelessadapterandinfusethesimulatedblood.Repeatasneeded

Should you wish to remove air from the bag, close the stopcock by turning to ahorizontal position. Remove bag fromhook in cover. Position the needleless adapter in a superior position. Attach the syringe to the needleless adaptor and withdrawair.Repeatasneeded.
