Unit 13 Resource 1 Rainforest excursion Find the words in this story that have the buzzy /zh/ sound as in treasure or explosion. Antonio and his mother had just moved from England to Brazil. Antonio’s mother said it would be an adventure. Antonio was not so happy about it. However, his mother’s new job was researching soil erosion in the Amazon rainforest and that meant she needed to live here. This weekend, to cheer Antonio up, they were going on an excursion to an animal rescue centre, deep in the rainforest. It would be a pleasant diversion from worrying about his new school. Antonio had seen programmes about the rainforest on television but nothing had prepared him for the explosion of colour and the collision of noise and heat. At the animal rescue centre, he fed the animals in the enclosure, played with a baby monkey and saw a real, live crocodile! Antonio thought about his life back in England. It seemed rather safe and boring now. He knew his mum was right – it was going to be a brilliant adventure. 108 © HarperCollinsPublishers 2017
