FOREWORD BY THE ORGANISATION

Weareproudto inviteyoutotheDutchOpenJu-Jitsutournament,heldonthe24thand25thofMarch2018 in the Netherlands. It givesme great pleasure to announce the very first Europa Cup U15 in thehistoryoftheJJEU,whichwillbeorganisedduringtheDutchOpen.InthefootstepsoftheJJIFWorldCupU15,therewillalsobeahighlevelEuropeantournamentforathletesunder15yearsold. IwouldliketotakethisopportunitytothanktheJJEUorganisation,itsPresident,anditsco-workersandcolleagues,fortheirconfidence,forsupportingthistournamentandfortakingtheJu-Jitsusporttoahigherlevel.

TheholdingofaEuropacupeventisanexcellentopportunitytopromotethebrandofJu-Jitsuasafightagainst childhood cancer. The competitions will be supported by 40 referees and more than 100volunteers.Allowmetotakethisopportunitytowarmlythankallof them.TheDutchOpenJu-JitsuandEuropa Cup Ju-JitsuU15,will not only be among themain championship events held in our country in2018.

EuropaCupJu-JitsuU15–TogetherAgainstCancer

Cancerchallengesusallinvariousways.Eventhoughtreatmenthasimprovedandanincreasingnumberofpatientssurvivecancer,thenumberofindividualsaffectedisalsoincreasing.Cancerisnotone,butmanydifferentdiseases.Oneof thegreatest challenges facedby cancer care is therefore thedevelopmentofmore targeted and personalised cancer treatment, adapted to the specific type of cancer and theindividualpatients’qualities,opportunitiesandneeds.

Childhoodcancersaredifferenttoadultcancersandneedtheirownresearch.Althoughtheyhavenamesthat say they’re a cancer, the vast majority of them are unique to childhood. Cancer is still the mostcommonmedicalcauseofdeathforchildrenandyoungpeople–claimingover500youngliveseachyear.KiKa is the leading national children's charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer, as achildren’scharity,wewanttofindsafer,moreeffectivetreatmentsforallyoungpatients.

Fromyeartoyearwecanwatchmoreandmoreyoungathletesperformingattheirbestinju-jitsusport.AswehaveAspirantsandJuniorsparticipatingatEuropeanandWorldChampionshipswewerelookingtofind a way for a high-level event also for categories U15. On the international levelWorld Cup U15 isorganisedinagoodfashionwithmanyparticipants,butformanyreasonswedidnotrecognizethatformatasasuitableonewhenorganisedoutsideEurope.

Wewould like to thank Judo BondNetherland for taking the challenge to be the first to organise newformatofEuropeCupU15forthisgenerationofperspectiveandeagerathletes.
