God's Spirit comes to us in ways we least expect.

Listen to the Word (Luke 1:26-38) As you hear this reading about Mary today, what words or phrases strike you? What in this reading touches your heart? Look into your life Question for children: If you were to tell someone one thing about Jesus’ mother, Mary, what would you say? Question for youth: Gabriel's greeting to Mary was, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you." This is God's greeting to each of us – he loves us just as we are. What are some of your personal strengths that God rejoices in? Question for adults: Name one area of your life where God has surprised you with love, abilities, or even a pregnancy. How is God’s Spirit upon you in this dimension of life? Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: Mary said "yes" to God’s call without knowing what it would

mean. Her story shows that nothing is impossible with God. Think of one area of your family life that you think is impossible. During prayer time this week, ask God for assistance with that family situation.

Gather with your family and say the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary together. Ask Mary to give you the courage to listen to God as she did.

Each of us has a place in the unfolding story of our family history. How have you carried on the story of faith in your family?

Review the Hail Mary with your children. Make sure they can each say it from memory.

In the first reading, God promises King David that his house and his kingdom will endure forever. It is through Mary’s “Yes” – “I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say.” – that the promise finds fulfillment.

All are welcome to celebrate with us our Christmas Season Masses

COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS Christmas is a time for coming home to be with people we love and have missed. When someone who has been away for a long time comes back to the family there is great rejoicing. The same is true with the Church family. So when you come to church this Christmas and someone is sitting in your pew, do not be upset; instead, let us rejoice that others are coming to church. Let us not be irritated if we may have to get cozy to accommodate more people in the pews. Christmas is love, let us show that love to our fellow Catholics whether they are regular Mass attendees or just come on the Holy Days.

The most important fact is that they are here! Their presence tells us that there is still a Catholic spark in their heart and we want to make that spark glow so that their hearts are once again on fire for the Catholic faith.

Parking at Christmas As we remember and celebrate the Birth of the Messiah we pay attention to the beauty of the season, and yet we also have to consider some other mundane and practical matters such as parking. Please remember that in the next weekend we will probably have a larger than usual number of people worshiping at Our Lady of La Salette; and we all know first hand that our parking situation is not ideal. Let us be mindful of that reality and let us become a little more considerate of one another. Let us allow our Christian values to shine as we come to worship next weekend. If you are able, please park as far away from the church as you can, so that others who are less able than you are, may park closer to the en-trance to the church. Remember that we can park on our rectory grounds across the street from the church and that if we do it in an organized man-ner we can maximize the use of the parking space there also.

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas

God with us!

We bless your name, Lord, for sending your own incarnate Son,

to become part of a family, so that, as he lived his life,

he would experience its worries and its joys.

We ask you, Lord, to protect and watch

over our families, so that in the strength of your grace

their members may enjoy prosperity, possess the priceless gift of your peace,

and, as the Church alive in the home, bear witness in this world to your glory.

We ask this thought Christ our Lord. Amen.

For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulders dominion rests.
