1 Important Definitions

PROPER USE

Any unauthorized modifications to or use of this equipment outside its specifiedmechanical, electrical, or other operating limits may cause personal injury and/orproperty damage, including damage to the equipment. Any such unauthorizedmodifications: (1) constitute misuse and/or negligence within the meaning of theproduct warranty thereby excluding warranty coverage for any resulting damage, and (2)invalidate product certifications or listings.

The programmable devices subject to this manual are designed for protection and alsocontrol of power installations and operational devices that are fed by voltage sources witha fixed frequency, i.e. fixed at 50 or 60 Hertz. They are not intended for use with VariableFrequency Drives. The devices are further designed for installation in low-voltage (LV)compartments of medium voltage (MV) switchgear panels or in de-centralized protectionpanels. The programming and parameterization has to meet all requirements of theprotection concept (of the equipment that is to be protected). You must ensure that thedevice will properly recognize and manage (e.g. switch off the circuit breaker) on thebasis of your programming and parameterization all operational conditions (failures). Theproper use requires a backup protection by an additional protective device. Beforestarting any operation and after any modification of the programming (parameterization)test make a documentary proof that your programming and parameterization meets therequirements of your protection concept.

The Self-Supervision Contact (Life-Contact) has to be wired with the substationautomation system in order to supervise and monitor the state of health of theprogrammable protective device. It is very important that an alarm annunciation is drivenfrom the programmable protective device self-supervision contact (Life-Contact) thatrequires immediate attention when tripped. The alarm indicates that the protectivedevice is no longer protecting the circuit and the system should be serviced.

Typical applications for this product family/device line are for instance:

Feeder protection Mains protection Machine protection Transformer Protection Generator Protection

Any usage beyond these applications the devices are not designed for. This applies alsoto the use as a partly completed machinery. The manufacturer cannot be held liable forany resulting damage, the user alone bears the risk for this. As to the appropriate use ofthe device: The technical data and tolerances specified by Woodward have to be met.

CAUTION!

Electrostatic Discharge Awareness

All electronic equipment is electro static-sensitive, some components more than others.To protect these components from electro static damage, you must take specialprecautions to minimize or eliminate electrostatic discharges. Follow these precautionswhen working with or near the control.

1. Before doing maintenance on the electronic control, discharge the static electricity onyour body to ground by touching and holding a grounded metal object (pipes, cabinets,equipment, etc.).

2. Avoid the build-up of static electricity on your body by not wearing clothing made ofsynthetic materials. Wear cotton or cotton-blend materials as much as possible becausethese do not store static electric charges as much as synthetics.

3. Keep plastic, vinyl, and Styrofoam materials (such as plastic or Styrofoam cups, cupholders, cigarette packages, cellophane wrappers, vinyl books or folders, plastic bottles,and plastic ash trays) away from the control, the modules, and the work area as much aspossible.

4. Do not remove any printed circuit board (PCB) from the control cabinet unlessabsolutely necessary. If you must remove the PCB from the control cabinet, follow theseprecautions:

Verify the safe isolation from supply. All connectors have to be unplugged. Do not touch any part of the PCB except the edges. Do not touch the electrical conductors, the connectors, or the components with

conductive devices or with your hands. When replacing a PCB, keep the new PCB in the plastic antistatic protective bag it

comes in until you are ready to install it. Immediately after removing the old PCBfrom the control cabinet, place it in the antistatic protective bag.

To prevent damage to electronic components caused by improper handling, read andobserve the precautions in the Woodward manual 82715, Guide for Handling andProtection of Electronic Controls, Printed Circuit Boards, and Modules.

2 Introduction to Smart viewSmart view is a parameter setting and evaluation software.

It is primarily intended to be connected with devices from the HighPROTEC family ofprotection devices, and therefore this is the main focus of this manual, especially becausethe devices from this series offer the most complexity and feature-richness. However,there are also a lot of protection devices from the High Tech Line 3, the Professional Lineand the WI Line series supported. Woodward will continue to add support for more andmore devices (plus of course further enhancements in general); therefore it isworthwhile making sure to always have the latest Smart view version installed.

However, please be aware that for devices from the High Tech Line 3, theProfessional Line and the WI Line series, not all functionality described in this manual isavailable; only those features can be used that are actually supported by the connecteddevice.

The full feature set, as available with HighPROTEC devices, comprises:

Menu-controlled parameter setting incl. validity checks

Offline configuration of all relay types

Reading and evaluating of statistical data and measuring values

Setting into operation assistance

Display of the device status

Fault analysis via event- and fault recorder

NOTICE!

Smart view 3.0 or higher supports reading parameter files generated by older versions ofSmart view. Parameter files generated by Smart view 3.0 and higher cannot be read byolder versions of Smart view.

Installation of Smart view

NOTICE!

The TCP/IP ports in the range 52152 52163 must not be blocked by a firewall, and noneof these ports must be used by any other (non-Woodward) application.

NOTICE!

If the Windows User Access Control pops up while installing Smart view, please Allow allinstallation requirements concerning Smart view.

System requirements:

Windows 7, Windows 8.x or Windows 10

2 Introduction to Smart view

The Smart view setup file is available on the product DVD, that is part of the delivery ofthe protective device. The setup program Smartview_SE_Install.exe is contained inthe Smart view SE folder of the product DVD.

In addition, the Smart view setup can also be retrieved from this Woodward downloadarea: wwdmanuals.com/smart_view

To install Smart view:

Double-click on the installation file with the left mouse button.

Select a language for the installation procedure.

Confirm by pressing the Continue button in the INFO frame.

Select an installation path or confirm the standard installation path by mouse clickon the Continue button.

Confirm the entry for the suggested installation folder by mouse click onthe Continue button.

By mouse click on the Install button, the installation routine is started.

Close the installation procedure by mouse click on the Complete button.

Now you can launch the program via [Start / Programs / Woodward / Smart view].

Silent Installation

In some cases it is required to perform an unattended (silent) installation. For example,an IT department might want to remotely install or upgrade Smart view without the PCuser being distracted by dialog windows.

The setup program features a special silent mode for this purpose, which is entered ifcommand-line options are given as follows:

Smartview_SE_Install.exe /SILENT

This command performs a silent installation of all Smart view-related applicationsincluding USB driver, and there is no user interaction needed for the installationprocess. However, the Installation Progress window is visible during the installationprocess.

Smartview_SE_Install.exe /VERYSILENT

This command performs a very silent installation of all Smart view-relatedapplications including USB driver: There is no user interaction needed for theinstallation process, and no dialog or window is visible.

The SILENT and VERYSILENT options may be used with another option, UNINSTOLD.

Smartview_SE_Install.exe /SILENT /UNINSTOLD

Smartview_SE_Install.exe /VERYSILENT /UNINSTOLD

In addition to the silent and very silent installation described above, it is checkedwhether there are any previous (old) versions of Smart view installed, and if this isthe case then the previous version(s) are uninstalled (also in a silent manner,without any user interaction).

Secured Communication

Only for HighPROTEC devices as of Release 3.4: For security reasons, it is possibleto restrict or disable the connection between Smart view and the HighPROTEC device. Ofcourse, the following descriptions assume that the access has not been blocked.

Only for HighPROTEC devices as of Release 3.6: Moreover, a connection isestablished only after a connection password has been entered. Finally, the connection isfully encrypted, and certificates guarantee the correct identity of the communicationparties. The user, however, need not take care of the encryption, this is establishedautomatically in the background. (See the Security chapter of the device manual fordetails.)

1. Please install Smart view in case that it has not yet been installed on your PC.

3.2 Connect a HighPROTEC Device via TCP/IP (Ethernet)

WARNING!

Mixing up IP-Addresses (In case that there is more than one protective device within theTCP/IP network). Establishing an unintentional wrong connection to a protective devicebased on a wrong entered IP-Address. Transferring parameters into a wrong protectivedevice might lead to death, personal injury or damage of electrical equipment.

In order to prevent faulty connections the user has to document and maintain a list withthe IP addresses of any switchboard/protective device.

The user has to doublecheck the IP addresses of the connection that is to be established.That means, the user must first read out the IP address at the HMI of the device (withinmenu [Device Para / TCP/IP / TCP/IP config]), then compare the IP address with the list. Ifthe addresses are identical, establish the connection. Otherwise do not connect.

3.5 Troubleshooting during Setting up the ConnectionGeneral

If a firewall is installed on your computer, make sure that no TCP/IP port in the range52152 52163 is blocked.

Ethernet Connections

Make sure that all TCP/IP data has been configured correctly (including theconfiguration of the protection device).

Check that the IP address of the protection device has been correctly entered inSmart view.

Note that currently only IPv4 addresses are supported.

Serial Connections (RS232) and USB Connections

Make sure whether the Windows service Telephony is started. If you press theWindows start button and navigate to [Start / System Control / Administration /Services] the service Telephony must be visible and must have also been started.If not, the service has to be started.

For establishing the connection, you need to have sufficient rights (administrationrights).

If your computer is not provided with a serial interface, you need a USB-to-serial-adapter (Woodward article USB2RS232ADAP). This adapter has to be properlyinstalled.

Ensure that a zero-modem cable is used (a standard serial cable without controlwires does not enable communication).

3.5.1 Persistent Connection Problems (*)

(*) applies only to serial connections (RS232) and USB connections

In case of persistent connection problems you should remove all connection settings andestablish them again afterwards. In order to remove all connection settings pleaseproceed as follows:

1. Remove the settings for the Dial-up Network

1. Close Smart view

2. Launch the Control Panel.

3. Choose Network & Internet.

4. On the left side, click on Manage Network Connections.

5. Click on HighPROTEC Direct Connection with the right-hand mouse key.

It is possible to start the Smart view application with additional command-line options.

All the options listed below are not case-sensitive. All these options may also start with aslash character /, instead of a dash -.

-file: must be an existing parameter file. Smart view thendirectly opens this file during the start-up phase.

6.2 Transfer Device Data from Smart view to the Device

WARNING!

Via the button Transfer only modified parameters into the device only modifiedparameters are transmitted into the device.

Parameter modifications are indicated by a red star symbol in front of the parameter.

The star symbol (in the device tree window) indicates that parameters in the opened file(within Smart view) differ from parameters stored on your local hard disk.

Via the button Transfer only modified parameters into the device, you can transmit allparameters that are marked by this symbol.

If a parameter file is saved on your local hard drive, these parameters are no longerclassified to be modified and cannot be transmitted via the button Transfer only modifiedparameters into the device.

In case that you have loaded and modified a parameter file from the device and saved itto your local hard drive without transferring the parameters into the device beforehand,you cannot use the button Transfer only modified parameters into the device. In a caselike that, use Transfer all parameters into the device.

NOTICE!

The button Transfer only modified parameters into the device only works if modifiedparameters are available in the Smart view.

In contrast to that, all parameters of the device are transferred when the button Transferall parameters into the device is pressed (unless there are invalid or implausible deviceparameters, see 6.11 Change a Parameter via Smart view Example).

1. In order to (re-)transfer parameters into the device, please select either Transfer allparameters into the device or Transfer only modified parameters into thedevice in menu [Device].

2. Confirm the safety inquiry Shall the parameters be overwritten into the device?.

3. Enter the password for setting parameters in the popup window.

Thereafter the changed data is transferred to the device and adopted.

Saving Data as a txt-file via Smart view

Within the print menu [File / Print] you can choose Export into File in order to export thedevice data into a text-file.

NOTICE!

Only the actual selected printing range will be exported into a text-file. That means: If youhave chosen the Complete device parameter tree then the Complete device parametertree will be exported. But, if you have chosen Actual working window, only this windowwill be exported.

You can print out operating data but not export them.

6.4 Offline Device Planning via Smart view

NOTICE!

In order to be able to transmit a parameter file (e.g. offline created) into the device thefollowing data must be equal:

Type Code (written on the top of the device/type label) and Version of the device model (can be found at [Device Para / Version] DM-Version.

The Smart view software enables also to parameterize offline. The advantage is: By usingdevice models you can do planning jobs for a device and set parameters in advance.

You can also read the parameter file out of the device, further process it offline (e.g. fromyour office) and finally re-transfer it to the device.

You can either:

load an existing parameter file from a device (see Loading of Device Data whenusing Smart view).

create a new parameter file (see below),

open a locally saved parameter file (backup).

In order to create a new device/parameter file by way of a device template offline:

1. In order to create a new offline parameter file please choose within the menu [File]the entry Create new parameter file.

2. A dialog window pops up. Please make sure that you select the right device typewith the correct version and configuration.

3. Finally click on Apply.

4. In order to save the device configuration select Save out of the [File] menu.

5. Within the menu [Edit / Modify Device Configuration (Typecode)] you can modify thedevice configuration or simply find out the type code of your current selection.

6.8 Recorders

6.8.1 Disturbance Recorder

Disturbance records / DataVisualizer

With the tool DataVisualizer it is possible to visualize the disturbance records of thedevice. The DataVisualizer is always installed along with Smart view.

Disturbance records can be downloaded (read out) by means of the parametersetting and evaluation software Smart view.

The disturbance records can be viewed and analyzed within DataVisualizer.

Disturbance records can be converted into the COMTRADE file format by means ofDataVisualizer.

A disturbance record contains measuring values inclusively some (configured) pre-trigger-time. By means of Smart view / DataVisualizer the oscillographic curves of the analog(current, voltage) and digital channels/traces can be shown and evaluated in a graphicalform. The disturbance recorder has a storage capacity of 120 s. The disturbance recorderis able to record up to 15 s (adjustable) per record. The amount of records depends on thesize of each record.

Check Disturbance Records via Smart view

1. In case Smart view is not running please start it.

2. If the device data were not yet loaded select Receive Data from Device frommenu [Device].

3. Double click the Operation icon in the navigation tree.

4. Navigate to the menu branch [Operation / Recorders] and double-click on Disturbrec.

In the window the disturbance records are shown in tabular form.

5. Double-click any disturbance record and choose a folder where it is to be saved to.

6. You can analyze the disturbance records using the software DataVisualizer afterclicking on Yes when you are asked Shall the received disturbance record beopened by the DataVisualizer?

6.8.3 Trend Recorder

Trend Recorder

The Trend Data are data points stored by the Trend Recorder on the relay device overfixed intervals of time, and can be downloaded from the device using Smart view. A TrendRecord is viewable using the Data Visualizer software by selecting files saved by Smartview with a file extension of . HptTr.

The list of available trend recorder data is viewable by selecting [Operation / Recorders /Trend rec].

When viewed within the DataVisualizer, the trend record will show the observed values(up to 10) that the user has specified. The values available in the Trend Recorder dependon the type of the connected device and the configuration of the Trend Recorder.

Managing Trend Records

To download information from the Trend Recorder, select [Operation / Recorders / Trendrec] from the menu tree. The user will find three options within the Trend Recorderwindow that will allow to:

Receive Trend Records,

Refresh the Trend Recorder, and

Delete Trend Records.

Selecting the Receive Trend Record button will download data from the relay to theuser's PC. By selecting the Refresh Trend Recorder, Smart view updates the list of TrendRecords. The Delete Trend Records button removes all trend data from the relay. TrendRecorder data previously stored on the user's PC remains untouched.

After having received trend data from the device, the user can view the data in theDataVisualizer by double-clicking on the received .HptTr file stored on the PC. Oncethe .HptTr file is open, the user will see the Analog Channels that are monitored bythe Trend Recorder. By clicking on the Analog Channels, all monitored parameters arelisted. To view a channel, the user must click on the left mouse key, then drag and dropthe channel onto the right-hand side of the DataVisualizer screen. The channel is thenlisted under the Displayed Channels.

To remove a channel from view, the user must select the Trend Data to be removed inthe Displayed Channels menu tree, then click on the right mouse button to bring up themenu options. Here, the user finds the Remove menu option that, when selected,removes the trend data.

6.8.4 Event Recorder

Check Event Records via Smart view

1. In case Smart view is not running please start it.

2. If the device data were not yet loaded select Receive Data from Device frommenu [Device].

3. Double click the Operation icon in the navigation tree.

4. Navigate to the menu branch [Operation / Recorders] and double-click on Eventrec.

In the window the event records are shown in tabular form.

NOTICE!

To have the event data read in a cyclic manner, select Auto refresh in menu [View].

Smart view is able to record more events than the device itself, if the window of the eventrecorder is opened and Automatic Up-Date is set to active.

Via the print menu you can export the data into a file. Please proceed as follows:

1. Open the data as described above.

2. Select the menu [File / Print].

3. Choose Print Actual Working Window within the popup.

4. Press the button Print.

5. Press the Export to File button.

6. Enter a file name.

6.8.5 Motor Start Recorder

Manage Motor Start Records

The Motor Start Recorder logs information during a motor start-up. These records arestored in a fail-safe manner and the capacity allows for recording up to 5 start-ups. After5 start-ups, every following start-up overwrites the recording of the oldest one (First inFirst out principle).

Every recording consists of a summary of information and recorded analog trends.However, the exact set of data is dependent on the ordered device variant. The summarydata can be accessed using Smart view or via the front panel interface. This featureprovides information recorded at the time of each start of the motor such as:

Date of the motor start event

Record number

IL1 max RMS, IL2 max RMS, IL3 max RMS, IG max RMS Maximum RMS phasecurrent of the respective phase

Unbalance max Maximum current unbalance during the motor start-up

I avg Average current of all three phases at the time of the start-to-run transition

Speed The motor nominal speed (1 or 2)

Time (duration) values:

tS-tI The time that elapses from the start until the current value drops belowthe set start-up threshold

tS-tR The time that elapses from the start until the motor is running, or incase of an incomplete start sequence until the trip command

I2T used Thermal capacity used, specified as percentage of the maximum thermalcapacity

Start success This is set to 1 if the motor start has been successful (and equals 0otherwise).

Smart view allows for storing the summary information as text files, or have them printedout.

The analog trends can be viewed using the DataVisualizer software. Examples forrecorded analog trends are:

Phase current values

Current unbalance

Thermal capacity

Temperatures (in case an RTD box is fitted)

Read Motor Start Records via Smart view:

The start recorder data can be downloaded by means of Smart view from the device.

Start Smart view if this has not been done already.

If the data has not been downloaded from the device yet, select the menu itemReceive Start Recorder in the Device menu.

Within the navigation tree, go to the [Operation / Recorders] menu. Here the userwill find the Start rec menu item.

When Start rec is selected the Start Recorder Window appears.

To access data that has been stored in the device using Smart view, the user must select theReceive Start Recorder button in the upper left hand corner of the Start Rec window. Whenclicked, the Smart view software will retrieve the highlighted record from the device.

After selecting one of the max. 5 recordings a summary of the Start Recorder data can beretrieved (for the selected recording) by clicking the Receive Summary Data button in theupper left hand corner of the Start Rec window.

A list of all currently available Start Records is viewable by selecting the Refresh StartRecorder button on the start recorder.

It is possible to delete individual records that are stored on the protective device. First, selectReceive Start Recorder, and then select the record to be deleted by clicking on the recordnumber, followed by the selection of the Delete Start Record button in the upper left handcorner of the Start Rec window.

To permanently remove all start records within a device's start recorder, select the Delete AllStart Records button also located in the upper left hand corner of the Start Rec window.This removes all previously stored start records within the device to which the user ispresently connected.

Open a Start Record file from a local storage device. Please note that it is possible to comparean archived Start Record against archived Parameter settings that are also stored on a localdevice. Read the Caution information below (page 6).

When using Smart view to view the Start Recorder data, the Start Recorder features canalso be found by right clicking anywhere within the Start Rec window.

NOTICE!

The Print button takes the user to the printing dialogue, where it is possible to exportthe summary into a text file. This is done the following way:

Retrieve the data in the Start Rec window, as described above. Click on the button Receive Summary Data. Click on the Print button. Click on the button Export to file. Enter a valid file name. Select the file path. Click on the Save button.

Display Start Records:

When a Start Record is called up, a window with the following options pops up.

View motor start data graphically in the DataVisualizer software. In theDataVisualizer software the user can view the RMS value of the phase currents,thermal capacity used, and temperatures measured by the URTD module if a URTDis installed and attached to the relay.

View motor start data overlayed with the Motor Protection Curves (Starting ProfilePlot versus Protection limits). The user can view the average current recordedduring the motor start versus protection elements such as 50P, or the ThermalModel. The user has the option to alter the displayed setting groups.

Please note: Protective elements that are not projected within the device planningare not visible.

The Starting Profile Plot offers two user scenarios:

Adapt the protection settings to the recorded start curve: The user then sees theimpact of parameter changes in the Profile Plot. By means of this the user candecide if the relay settings match the protection requirements.

Analyze a Start Record: Since a Start Record does not include the relay settings, theuser has to ensure that backups of the relay settings are available that were valid atthe time of recording.

CAUTION!

Please note that the Starting Profile Plot shows the recorded average current versus thecurrent relay settings. The relay settings itself are not part of a Start Record.

Adaptive parameters and their impacts wont be visible within the Starting Profile.

Blockings wont be visible within the Starting Profile.

Please make sure to save the setting files together with this record to guarantee thegraph represents the conditions of when this event occurred.

6.8.6 Statistic Recorder

The Statistic Recorder shows motor specific statistical data on a monthly base. TheStatistic Recorder can record up to 24 monthly reports. The reports are power fail safestored.

In order to view information from the Statistic Recorder, the user has to select[Operation / Recorders / Statistic rec] from the menu tree.

When using Smart view, a double-click on the Date of Record shows detailed statisticalinformation such as the number of starts, the number of successful starts, the averagestart time, the average I2T value during any start, and the average of all maximumcurrents value seen during each start.

6.8.7 Internal Messages (Self-Supervision Recorder)

Check Self-Supervision Messages via Smart view

NOTICE!

This feature is available only when connecting with a recent HighPROTEC protectiondevice (as of version 3.4).

The protection device supervises its own functionality by constantly performing variousself-tests. If it detects any serious problem, or any event that has a serious impact on theoperation of the device then this event is recorded.

HighPROTEC protection devices as of version 3.6 use this recorder also for security-related messages, for example to report a problem with the encrypted communication orif a wrong password has been entered.

The menu [Operation / Self-Supervision / Messages] gives access to this list of internalmessages. The following data is part of each entry:

Record Number a counter without special meaning

Date of Record timestamp of the event

Message a message ID with a (short, heavily abbreviated) message text

Value additional data specific to the event

All messages that can potentially appear here are described in detail in a separatedocument, the HighPROTEC Troubleshooting Guide (HPT4.70ENTSG).

6.9 PasswordsIn general, there are access level passwords, that permit to change the setting values ofrelated parameters, and connection passwords, that permit to establish a connection ofthe Smart view with the operating software Smart view.

Note, however, that connection passwords are always prompted for by Smart view, i.e.they are always entered via PC keyboard. (See the Security chapter of the TechnicalManual of your HighPROTEC device for a detailed description.)

Entering wrong passwords (regardless whether connection password or access levelpassword, and regardless whether via HMI or Smart view) triggers a time penalty stage:The Smart view blocks any further password entry for an increasing amount of time, untila correct password has been entered. A dedicated message informs the user about this

blocking. This timer affects only the password entry (i.e. the Softkey on the HMI),so that it does not prevent the user from doing some other, password-free activitiesduring this blocking time.

Change Passwords via Smart view

Download the parameter file from the device.

1. Passwords can be changed by a double-click within the menu [Device Para /Security / Password] on the corresponding password.

2. Enter the old password and the new password twice.

3. Confirm the changes by a click on OK.

6.10 Device PlanningDevice Planning means to change the functional range to a degree that suits theprotection task to be fulfilled (i.e.: the device deactivates all functions that are notneeded, and shows only the active ones).

There is a top-level menu item [Device planning] that is dedicated to this; it collects asetting parameter for each function which can be set to - or to use. (In some casesthere are additional setting options, for example with devices featuring directiondetermination).

If the user, for example, activates the voltage protection function, all menu branchesrelated to this function appear in the menu tree. All corresponding events, signals, etc.,are activated as well.

WARNING!

It MUST be taken into account that Device Planning changes the functionality of thedevice.

If, for example, the user cancels the directional feature of the overcurrent protections, thedevice will no longer trip in a directional way but merely in a non-directional way. If theuser deactivates a protection function, the device will no longer trip according to thecriteria related to this protection function.

The manufacturer does not accept liability for any personal or material damage as aresult of incorrect planning.

Contact your Woodward Customer Service representative for more information.

WARNING!

Beware of the inadvertent deactivating of protective functions/modules, because all thesettings of a deativated module get lost (i.e. are set back to their respective defaultvalues)!

This means: If the user is activating any of these modules again at some later time, allparameters of the re-activated modules need to be reconfigured.

6.11 ParametersParameter Setting via Smart view

Smart view shows within the windows, where parameters are edited also the requiredaccess level for the parameters and settings. The required access authorizations will beverified when the parameter file should be transferred into the protective device. For thetransmission, two options are available.

The transfer of all Parameters. This always requires the Supervisor (administrator)password.

The transfer of the modified Parameters only. Smart view checks the set of accesslevels that are required by the parameter to be modified, and it prompts for thehighest required passwords (access authorizations).

Example 1:

A Prot-Lv1 parameter and a Prot-Lv2 parameter have been edited and are about tobe transferred. The user is being prompted for the password Prot-Lv2.

Example 2:

A Prot-Lv1 parameter, a Prot-Lv2 parameter and a device planning parameter havebeen edited and are about to be transferred. The user is being prompted for theadministrator password Supervisor-Lv3.

Example 3:

A Prot-Lv1 parameter, a Prot-Lv2 parameter and a Control-Lv1 parameter havebeen edited and are about to be transferred. The user is being prompted for the twopasswords Prot-Lv2 and Control-Lv1.

Change a Parameter via Smart view Example

Example: Changing of a protective parameter. (We want to alter the characteristic for theovercurrent protection function I[1] in parameter set 1).

1. In case Smart view is not running please start it.

2. If the device data were not yet loaded select Receive Data from Device frommenu [Device].

3. Double-click the icon Protection Para in the navigation tree.

4. Within the [Protection Para] menu, double-click the icon Set 1.

5. Within the parameter set 1, double-click I-Prot.

6. Double-click I[1].

In the dialog window a tabulated overview appears, showing the parametersassigned to this protective function.

7. In this table double-click the value/parameter you want to change (here: Char).

8. An editing dialog window is opened where you can select the required characteristic.

9. Close this window by clicking the OK button.

10. Additional parameters can be changed if required.

11. There are two options available within the menu [device]: Transfer all parameters tothe device, or only the modified ones. See Transfer Device Data from Smartview to the Device.

13. Enter all the passwords that you are prompted for.

Afterwards the parameters are transferred to the protection device.

14. We recommend to confirm the inquiry Shall The Data Be Saved Locally? with Yes.

Select a suitable storing location on your hard disk.

Confirm the chosen storing location by clicking Save.

The changed parameter data is saved now in the data file chosen by you.Thereafter the changed data is transferred to the device and adopted.

NOTICE!

A star (asterisk) symbol in front of the changed parameters indicates that the alterationshave not yet been stored in a parameter file. This is independent of whether theparameters have been transferred to the device in the meantime.

In order to make things easier to follow, especially where complex parameter changes areinvolved, the menu tree indicates the parameter change by the star symbol on everysuperior/higher menu level, too (star trace). This makes it possible to control or followup from the main menu level at any time where parameter changes have been made butnot been saved yet.

The star trace is cleared only if the parameter changes are saved in a parameter file, orif all device data is reloaded from the device.

NOTICE!

Once you have entered a password, Smart view remembers it for ca. 10 minutes so thatyou are not asked again during this time. This time interval is re-started wheneverparameters are transmitted into the device. If no parameters are transmitted into thedevice for a duration of more than 10 minutes, Smart view clears its password memory sothat you are asked again when you are trying to transmit parameters into the device.

In order to prevent obvious wrong settings the software monitors constantly all temporarysaved parameter changes. If it detects an implausibility, this is indicated by a questionmark in front of the respective parameter.

In order to make things easier to follow up, especially where complex parameter changesare involved, on every superior/higher menu level above of the temporary savedparameters, an implausibility is indicated by a question mark (plausibility trace). Thismakes it possible to control or follow from the main menu level at any time whereimplausibilities exist.

So it is possible to see from each point of the menu tree that implausibilities have beendetected by the software.

A star/parameter change indication is always overwritten by the question mark/implausibility symbol.

If the software detects an implausibility it rejects saving and adopting of the parameters.

Switch Setting Groups (Parameter Sets) via Smart view

1. In case Smart view is not running please start it.

2. If the device data were not yet loaded select Receive Data from Device frommenu [Device].

3. Double-click the icon Protection Para in the navigation tree.

4. Within the [Protection Para] menu, double-click the icon PSet-Switch.

5. Configure the Setting Group Switch respectively choose an active set manually.

Copying Setting Groups (Parameter Sets) via Smart view

NOTICE!

Setting groups can only be copied if there are no implausibilities (no red question mark,see the Notice at the end of 6.11 Change a Parameter via Smart view Example).

It is not necessary to set up two setting groups that only differ in a few parameters.

With the help of Smart view you can copy simply an existing setting group to anotherone(not yet configured) . You only need to change those parameters where the twosetting groups are different.

To establish efficiently a second parameter set where only a few parameters are different,proceed as follows:

1. In case Smart view is not running please start it.

2. Open an (offline) parameter file of a device or load data of a connected device.

3. By way of precaution, save (the relevant) device parameters: [File / Save as]

4. Select Copy Parameter Sets out of the menu [Edit].

5. Define the source and destination parameter set for copying (source = copy from;destination: copy to).

6. Click on OK to start copy procedure.

The copied parameter set is cached now, but not yet saved.

7. Then modify the copied parameter set(s) as required.

8. Assign a new file name to the revised device parameter file and save it on your harddisk (backup copy).

9. Transfer the modified parameters back to the device (see Transfer Device Datafrom Smart view to the Device.)
