PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Welcome to our new Kindergarten students who commenced
their first year of ‘big school’ on Monday. It has been
wonderful to see so many happy faces and Mrs Kelsall, Mrs
Rubie and Miss Eastlake have all been very impressed with
the positive attitudes of our new students. Thank you to
parents for making sure the students are ready to come to
school each day and ready to learn each day.
Next Monday evening from 5pm in the top playground our
P&C will be holding the 2017 ‘Welcome Picnic.’ Families are
encouraged to come along, bring a picnic blanket and food
and join with other families to celebrate the start of the
school year. This is a great opportunity to meet new people
in a low-key environment and was a great success in 2016.
Congratulations to the following students who have been
elected as House Captains and Vice Captains for 2017.
Sturt: Captains: Harry and Catalina Vice Captains: Shaun
and Imogen, Cunningham: Captains: Noah and Lauren Vice
Captains: Brock and Mikayla Mitchell: Captains: Oliver and
Anusha, Vice Captains: Tyler and Chloe, Oxley: Captains:
Steven and Alix, Vice Captains: Gideon and Jessica. Our
first sporting event for 2017 is the Swimming Carnival
which will be held next Wednesday, 15 February and we look
forward to seeing students giving their best and
participating in as many events as possible.
This year our students and teachers will be working
together on seeing our students achieve to their potentials,
developing high level skills and strategies to be great
learners. Students will be challenged to do their best at all
times and to solve problems together. We encourage all
parents to make contact with their child’s teacher and talk
about what they want for their child to ensure we are all
working in a collaborative manner. Thank you to parents for
supporting their children and working with us to achieve
amazing things.
As of today we have formed 17 classes and we have 436
students enrolled for 2017. At some point throughout Term
One we may reach the number of students required to form
an extra class. If this happens the School Executive will
make a decision around how best to utilise this resource to
meet the needs of our students and will talk with parents as
required.
We have had a wonderful start to 2017 and I look forward
to being a part of achieving outstanding outcomes for all.

Principal
