Words of Welcome
Prelude Just a Closer Walk with Thee arr. Phillip Keveren
Call to Worship
Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good.
God’s steadfast love endures forever.
Keep silence before the Lord God!
The day of the Lord is at hand.
Let us worship God.
*Hymn 35 Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty LOBE DEN HERREN
Prayer of Confession
Gracious and Loving God, you know our needs more than we do. We confess this day we often
fail to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, give release to those imprisoned by fear,
failure, and fatigue. You call us to be your disciples and yet we are too cautious to follow your will.
Remind us once again that to do all these things in your name would be as doing it to you. Enable us
to be more welcoming of those different than we are, to be more inclusive. Restore us to you through
your loving kindness and your forgiveness.
Moment of Silent Reflection and Confession
Leader: We make these confessions asking, “Lord, have mercy.”
Congregational Response 577 Lord, Have Mercy KYRIE ELEISON (Reindorf)
Kyrie eleison. Kyrie eleison. Kyrie eleison. Kyrie eleison.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
The Sharing of the Peace of Christ
Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another.
The Peace of Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you.
Congregational Response 435 There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy IN BABILONE
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy, like the wideness of the sea.
There’s a kindness in God’s justice, which is more than liberty.
There is no place where earth’s sorrows are more felt than up in heaven.
There is no place where earth’s failings have such kindly judgment given.

Sermon DPC’s Got Talent Pastor Josh Gill
Responding to God’s Word
Affirmation of Faith John 1:1-5,10-14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in
the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing
came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. He was in the world, and
the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his
own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his
name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the
flesh or of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we
have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.

(11:00) Now We Give Thanks Mark Patterson
Alleluia Choir Thank you Lord for wonders all around us, for the earth and sky and sea.
Thank you Lord, for beauty that surrounds us; you created ev’rything.
Now we give thanks, now we give thanks, thanks for all that the Lord has done.
Now we give thanks, now we give thanks, thanks to God. Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices, who
wondrous things hath done, in whom the world rejoices.
*Congregational Response 643 Now Thank We All Our God NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT
All praise and thanks to God, who reigns in highest heaven,

Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper Invitation to the Lord’s Table
Friends, this is the joyful feast of the people of God! They will come from east and west, and from
north and south and sit at table in the kingdom of God. According to Luke, when our risen
Lord was at table with his disciples, he took the bread and blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.
And their eyes were opened and they recognized him. This is the Lord’s table. Our Savior
invites those who trust him to share in the feast which he has prepared.
Prayer of Great Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us
give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is truly right and our
greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, eternal God...Therefore we praise you, joining our voices
with angels and archangels and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the
glory of your name: Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, though the eye of sinfulness
thy glory may not see, only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, perfect in power, in love and purity...As our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to pray…
The Lord’s Prayer (Traditional)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
