AT252_WN_E1 1 What's New in Atoll 2.5.2 Features available in Atoll 2.5.2 are listed below. Further information about these features is available in the online help, the User Manual, the Administrator Manual, and the Technical Reference Guide. General Features Hot Spot Areas It is possible to define polygonal areas of interest in order to generate statistics on each specific hot spot area. Like computation, focus and filtering zones, hot spot areas can be either drawn or imported by the users. A project may contain several hot spot areas. Predictions reports indicate statistics for the focus zone and for each single hot spot area. Calculation, memory consumption and speed performances All Atoll documents connected to a database store a history of all the modifications made in the table records. You now have the option to erase the modifications history from your document when you disconnect the document from the database. This functionality reduces the project file size and memory consumption. A problem which caused a decrease in Atoll’s performance has been fixed in the version 2.5.2. During the database update process, the field lengths of a few text fields used to change from 50 to 255 characters which is no longer the case. Neighbour Characteristic Display It is now possible to display any neighbour characteristic available in the Intra-technology Neighbours table on the map. The display is based on a “Best Server” coverage study which must be previously calculated and displayed. After selecting a transmitter on the map, Atoll shows the coverage areas of its neighbours and can colour them depending on any neighbour characteristic available in the Intra- technology Neighbours table (note that neighbour characteristics can be imported fields). General API Access to interference matrices Access to document common folders with localization independent IDs Access to transmitter computed values: signature, EIRP, antenna losses Propagation API New interface to calculate losses on points with arbitrary heights GSM GPRS EGPRS Project Features Performance improvement by disabling maximum range The maximum cell range parameter (System tab of the Predictions folder’s properties dialog) in GSM GPRS EGPRS documents is used by default and set to 35 km. It is now possible to disable this parameter to improve Atoll’s performance. UMTS HSDPA Project Features Bearer Downgrading The bearer downgrading is now modelled in simulations and in some prediction studies as well. A new option “Rate Downgrading” is available when you create a simulation. When you select it, R99 and HSDPA users are not directly rejected but downgraded previously. If finally, the bearer downgrading does not fix the problem, then they are rejected. R99 to R99 bearer downgrading as well as HSDPA to R99 bearer downgrading can occur. The R99 to R99 bearer downgrading is triggered for different reasons: when cell resources are not sufficient at the admission or during the congestion control and when the user maximum connection power is exceeded during the power control. For all these different reasons, the user R99 bearer is downgraded to another R99 bearer of the same type. The HSDPA to R99 bearer downgrading occurs at the admission when the best serving cell does not support HSDPA traffic. In this case, the HSDPA user will not able to get a HSDPA bearer and he will be allocated a R99 bearer instead. Therefore, the user HSDPA bearer is downgraded to a R99 bearer of the same type than the A-DPCH bearer.
