“Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!” - 1 Peter 4:7 – 11
Every day I am amazed by the array of gifts, talents, and abilities that each person brings to this community. The diversity and breadth continuously reminds me of our need to be a part of community. As I work with the Senior Students here at NT Christian College I seek to encourage them to recognise their value as individuals and as key members of our community. They bring their unique flavour and insight that adds a richness to who we are as a school. I want all of our students to see that they have a place here at the college and within the wider community. Each person has value and something to give.
Not only do we need to be aware of and understand our contributions to the community, we need to seek ways to help meet the needs, to celebrate the joys and to carry the burdens of others. We need to contribute in positive ways.
Key questions to ask as we educate our students to be effective members of the community are:
What makes a community?
Who is our neighbour?
Can we live without others?
Why should we serve others with our gifts?
How can we resolve conflict?
Knowledge and learning is deepened and developed as we gain a better understanding of who we are, our part in the community and how to relate to others. It is our aim that Graduates of our school have a deep understanding of the value of relationships and the courage to step into their future.
Year 5/6 Cultural LunchThe Year 5/6 students have been exploring culture and community through their Guardians Unit and Health lessons. They recently
had a lunchtime opportunity to celebrate different cultures, celebrating the coming together as a community. It was a lot of fun!
"The Cultural Lunch was a great experience to learn about other people’s food and culture. I liked the food and
would like to do it again. " - Josh.
"I really liked the Cultural Lunch because I got to try new foods like Milfei and Croissants. It was also really fun seeing people dressed
up as different cultured people." - Hannah.
"The Cultural Lunch was very fun! We got to dress up and bring cultural food. The food was yummy and there
were some very cultural costumes." - Emily.
"It was amazing! All the cultural clothing! All the students looked amazing and the food was great. Everything was perfect. I really
want to thank the kids and all the teachers who made this cultural lunch possible." - Jaydon.
"The Cultural Lunch was so fun! The food was yum and it was interesting to see people’s costumes and their cultures from where
they’ve come from." - Lydie.
"Yummy!" Eljo.
Transition are learning about the history and technology of toys in Term 4. This week we had fun making our own kites and were amazed at how well some of them flew!
