Anytime for emergencies. "Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him." The prevailing theology of Jesus' time led people to believe that any kind of disability was a punishment from God. So Jesus' disciples assumed that the man born blind suffered that affliction because of someone's sin: either his parents' or his own. But Jesus sets the record straight. Not only did he reject the idea that the blindness was a punishment for sin; he also went so far as to suggest that this very trial was an opportunity for God's glory to be revealed. And sure enough, it was. Jesus worked a miracle of healing for the man who followed his direc- tions and "came back able to see." So it was that the "works of God" became "visible" through a man who was blind! But, ironically, not everyone had the eyes to see the miracle. The Gospel tells us that "there was a division among them" as they debated whether this remarkable healing was really an act of God. Jesus stated that he came "so that those who do not see might see." And so, who are we? Are we blinded by our own expectations of how God is supposed to work? Are we so caught up in our own vision of what we wish would happen that we fail to appreciate what is actually unfolding before our very eyes? It is so easy to perceive trials, disabilities, sickness, and misfortune as a curse or the result of being abandoned by God. But today's Gospel suggests another reality. In the midst of these very difficulties, God wants to reveal himself, to show his love and mercy. It may not always be in the exact way we expect, but without a doubt, even in these challenging realms, God is always at work.

YEAR OF HOPE”!! “Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting one-self in the hands of God, at his disposition, and listening to his voice in the depths of our hearts.” !Mother Theresa! !

DVD RETREAT WITH POPE FRANCIS!! Conference 4 “The Vision of St. Ignatius of Loyola With the Heart of St Francis of Assisi.” !! Pope Francis is a Jesuit Pope with a Franciscan heart. This convergence of traditions brings the Church to an exciting juncture in the history of the papacy. This is an opportunity for all of us to integrate these two tradi-tions into our spiritual journey. In this topic we will explore this powerful aspect of Francis’s ministry as well as the image of the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Matthew. All are invited to join us on either Monday, March 27th, at 2:00 p.m. in Church or on Tuesday, March 28th, at 7:00 p.m. in church. Hope to see you there!!!

BOOK REFLECTION!

! Please join us this Sunday, March 26th, at 10:00 a.m. for our second Book Reflection on the Matthew Kelley book “Resisting Happiness” in the Cafeteria (right off the Social Hall). This weekends reflection will be on Chap-ters 4 thru 7 with Kevin James as our facilitator. Relax, have a cup of coffee and spend some quality time God!!

! Dinner and Easter Hams will once again be delivered to our neighbors experiencing very dif-ficult times by the members of our St. Vincent de Paul. The

number of families we help depends on how many hams received. If you are able, can you provide a half a ham for a neighbor in need this Easter? !! Think about it, Pray about it and if possible; please drop off the hams or dinner items at the rectory during business hours. Deadline is noon on Monday, April 3rd, Thank You !!!

Dear Parishioners,!!!

! I enjoyed my visits before and after many of the Masses on these past two weekends. I also was very impressed by the St. Patrick’s Corned Beef Dinner a couple Sundays ago. Fr. Dan is surely very pleased by the prayerful liturgies and the enjoyable gatherings of friends. I’ve included, below, a few reflections.!!

Fr Paul Rosing!

• Jesus heals the man born blind. John 9: 141!

“Seeing” and “light” are key images of today’s Gospel for this Sunday in midLent. Jesus cures a man born blind!but it might be said that the greater miracle is opening the eyes of those around him to “see” the pres-ence of God in their midst. Question for the Car: When has “blindness” kept you in the dark and unable to see the works of God?!• Please continue to keep our nowretired Bishop, !Roger G. Lennon, in your prayersfor his health and wellbeing. Please, also pray for Bishop Daniel Thom-as, our Apostolic Administrator, as he takes on this add-ed responsibility of leading our Diocese. I have prom-ised both Bishops the prayers of Our Lady of Hope and St. Mary parishioners during this time of transition.!• We pray for Catholic Christians around the world!

who rarely or never attend Massthat they may hear the call to come home once again during this Easter sea-sonto receive the spiritual sustenance of Christ’s Body and Blood.!
