OPERATION ROUND UP FOUNDATION, INC.

BOARD CHAIR REPORTPrepared by JULIE MAURER, Board Chair, Operation Round Up Foundation, Inc.

TOTAL FUNDS AWARDED IN 2017: $265,256

OPERATION ROUND UP MAKE CENTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

What do the following seemingly different causes have in common? Protective gear for firefighters, athletic field upgrades for youth football and baseball leagues, and critical resources for hospice were all made possible in 2017 through your support of The Energy Cooperative Operation Round Up Foundation. In fact, throughout the year approximately $266,000 was distributed to a wide variety of worthy causes in need of assistance. Your generous contributions allowed us to make great strides towards the $3 million mark for total grants awarded since the foundation was established in 2005.

Whether the cause is a community wide initiative, such as capital improvements at the Simon Kenton Council Boy Scouts’ Camp Falling Rock, the Scidome at The Works, or a small targeted effort like an AED for the Sheridan Biddy League Football field, they all share one thing in common. These nonprofit organizations are working hard to improve the quality of life for those they serve – one person at a time. As a contributor to the Operation Round Up Foundation, you are making a difference. The number of those in our service area benefiting from these grants are too numerous to count, especially when you consider future generations will enjoy the improvements for years to come.

College scholarships are another benefit afforded to many deserving students through the foundation. These students will undoubtedly

use the knowledge and skills they gain through higher education to contribute in meaningful ways to the future workforce. We are grateful for the boost the scholarship funds raised each year from proceeds generated by the Bruce Sumner Memorial Golf Tournament. The ways in which we all leverage our resources to give back to our communities seem boundless. I am proud to share these stories of hope and inspiration to raise awareness of the good work we are all accomplishing together.

It has been my honor to serve with many others as a volunteer Operation Round Up Foundation board member for the past 9 years, and to enjoy this second appointment as board chair. I look forward to the bimonthly meetings knowing that we will have the opportunity to serve this outstanding organization. Under the strong and capable leadership provided by your board members and the Energy Cooperative staff, I am certain this good work will continue beyond my term. These folks are devoted to serving Cooperative members and the diverse communities within its service area, and are exceptional stewards of your Operation Round Up Foundation program.
