Wheel of FortuneGreg Burda

each year, the ronald McDonald House at Stanford recognizes local philanthropic leaders or nonprofits who serve families with ill children or who have made significant contributions in

the fields of pediatric medicine or social services with a Diamond award. this year, we are pleased to recognize the Sobrato Family Foundation and John a. Sobrato will be in attendance to accept the award. this locally committed private family foundation is a place-based grantmaker that invests exclusively in nonprofits serving those most in need in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Southern alameda

counties, and is committed to building a strong and vibrant Silicon valley community through business and philanthropic leadership. the Sobrato tradition of civic involvement (which

now spans four generations) began with ann Sobrato (1915-2000) who exemplified the ideals of hard work and public service. the Founda-tion’s innovative People & Places portfolio utilizes both cash and real estate to achieve maximum impact. By the close of 2011 the Sobratos’ cumulative community investments had totaled more than $201 million, $61M was contributed through

individual family gifts and $62.6M in buildings and land donated directly to local nonprofits.
