Thank you to our amazing community for turning out in force to support our mini fete yesterday afternoon. It was wonderful to see parents, grandparents, ex Boambee students and community members support our amazing school! We have raised nearly $8000.00 for our school! A massive thanks to Ms Townsend for her superb organisation and ensuring the fete went smoothly. Thank you also to the teachers, support staff and cleaners for all putting in the hard yards - we have a brilliant team at Boambee and congratulations to everyone. Day for Daniel, Australia’s largest child safety awareness and education day was held today. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation aims to make Australia a safe place for all children. It’s important that as a community we prioritise the safety of all children. Thanks to Miss Thompson and the SRC for coordinating today for our school. This term, we welcomed Mrs Wigg to KW. Mrs Wigg has been on maternity leave after giving birth to the gorgeous Molly! Thanks to Mr Sharkey for teaching KW in Mrs Wigg’s absence. Ms Townsend will be taking leave from 5th November for the rest of 2018. Mr Daley Lemaire will be teaching 5T and is a familiar face to our students. Ms Townsend has been granted a transfer to Woolgoolga PS and Mrs Melanie Sciortino has been appointed to Boambee PS, to commence in 2019. Mrs Sciortino is currently teaching at Woolgoolga PS. We have seen a large increase of children dropped off at school well before 8:20am, when the teacher commences morning duty. Some children are being dropped off before 7:45am. There is no supervision for children at this time. Please assist us by dropping your children off when they are supervised. Brad Lyne - Principal Kinder Transition Program The next Kinder Transition Day will be held on Wednesday, 31st October from 9.15am until 11.00am. The children will participate in early literacy, numeracy, craft, singing and tabloid activities in the kinder classrooms. Parents are to walk students to the kinder classrooms and collect them at the Tallowwood tree at 11.00am. The school will provide crunch and sip for your child on this day. PBL Welcome back to Term 4 from the PBL team! We are looking forward to another successful term with PBL. On Monday, our Stage 3 Leaders taught a lesson on Being SAFE in afternoon lines. The lesson outlined: Knowing where you are going Listening to teacher instructions Looking and listening when crossing the road Also, just a friendly reminder that if you are picking your child up, please wait at the Tallowwood Tree for your child to be brought down by the teachers on duty. Write4Fun Our school has been recognised for outstanding achievement in this writing competition as we had more than 10 students successfully progress past the initial judging and are in the running for the final prize and having their stories published. Congratulations to the following students who entered their writing in the competition: Damien Kell, Lydia Wakeham, Tullie Brown, Dallace Brown, Poppi Hudson, Kyra Clunas, Chloie. T, Tia Hayer, Cash Hudson, Jazz Barrow, Oliver Sorenson and Lilly Ellem.

State Athletics Jackson Joice and Cooper Moore will be competing in the NSW PSSA Athletics at Homebush on Wednesday, 31st October and Thursday, 1st November. Jackson will be competing in the Boys 11 Year 200m event and Cooper will be competing in the Boys 8-10 Year Discus Throw. Good luck boys! Equestrian Sophie Ralph recently competed in the Tamworth Interschools Equestrian Competition. She had some great results in the 7-9 year old age group. Today and this weekend, Sophie will compete in the Grafton Interschool competition. Good luck, Sophie!

Year 1 and 2 Swimming Program The 2018 Swimming Program is filling up fast and there is only limited positions left. If you would like your child to participate please make sure their permission note and payment of $70.00 is made by Friday, 2nd November 2018.

Day For Daniel Fundraiser Students and staff were dressed in red today to support this most worthy fundraiser.

2019 Calendars The whole school will have the opportunity to purchase a 2019 calendar made from one of their drawings or artworks. The price of a calendar is $10.00 each. Notes were sent home today and orders are due back at school by Friday, 2nd November. Art works will be completed this term. Bongil Bongil Public Speaking Good luck to all of our students who will represent our school at the Bongil Bongil Public Speaking Competition on Wednesday, 31st October. Family members are more than welcome to come and watch their children give their speeches. Yarn Up Meeting There will be a Yarn Up meeting at 11am on Wednesday, 7 November in 2S classroom. All welcome!

Tennis Program Now taking enrolments for Term 4 for lunchtime tennis lessons at school. Small group tuition with Tony Polack. 2018 Boambee Fete A big thank you to everyone who supported our Fete. The school was a sea of people, one of the big favourites was the Ghost House, which made a come back from previous fetes. Mrs Townsend did a great job with her last fete at Boambee Public School and we wish her well for the future.
