SPECIAL COLLECTION for SYRIAN REFUGEES On the counter in the entrance of the church, you will find envelopes Marked: Syrian Refugees. The proceeds of this collection will be sent to The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development & Peace (CCODP). All cheques are to be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and donations will be included on your income tax receipt from the parish. Be sure to fill in your name and address. The objective is to have all funds collected by October 11th, so that we can forward the funds and participate in the Federal Government's Syrian Refugee Crisis Fund for matching dollar for dollar benefits.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

This fall there is another opportunity to participate in small

faith-sharing groups beginning just after Thanksgiving. Over

the course of six weeks we will have the opportunity to

reflect on the basic Gospel theme of evangelization

‘We Are the Good News!’.

We will have small groups meeting in the parish on different days & times. If you

did not attend the last session; we have SIGN UP cards available in the church

today and on Sunday Oct 4. Just fill in the form and place in the collection

basket or return to the parish office. FOR THOSE WHO ATTENDED THE LAST SEASON, YOUR LEADER WILL CONTACT YOU FOR THIS SEASON. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CONTACT THE PARISH OFFICE. ——————————————————————————————————————

Baby Bottle—Final Call…..The Baby Bottle Campaign for the Pregnancy Centre came to a close in June. However, their records show that we have

40 bottles remaining to be returned from our parish; therefore, we are making a final plea for those who still have a baby bottle to return them no later than,

Monday, Sept 28th. You can bring them to the parish office. Thank you for your support in replenishing the baby bottles for the Campaign.

Annual Homemade Pumpkin Pie Social will be October 3 & 4

after all the weekend Masses. Free will offering gratefully accepted.

If you are willing to bake and donate homemade pumpkin pies they may be dropped off in the parish kitchen 10 am to noon

Saturday. We rely o the donation of pies to once again make this project a success, so that we can continue our ministry to the less fortunate.

May God continue to bless you in all that you do.

Eucharistic Adoration Ministry of Sault Ste. Marie Adoration Chapel

Located at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church The Roman Catholic community of the City of Sault Ste. Marie is privileged to have an Adoration Chapel where Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is present at all times. This Chapel is located in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 114 MacDonald Avenue. We are running into difficulties where a lot of the Adorers are getting to an age where they are unable to attend the Chapel due to sickness or lack of transportation.

The Chapel is open from 6:00 a.m. until Midnight. Anyone can drop in for a visit during that time;

however, we do need adorers committed to a weekly visit for an hour.

We urgently require an Adorer for the hours of: Sunday 6-7p.m.; 7- 8 p.m. and 8-9 pm; Monday 11 pm-12 pm;

Tuesday 7-8 p.m.; Wednesday 2—3 p.m. & 6-7 p.m.; Thurs. 1-2 p.m. & 3-4 p.m.; Friday 4 –5 pm

and Sat., 8 –9 p.m. Please call one of the following co-ordinators of the Chapel if you would like to come to the Chapel to experience the peace and tranquility of spending one hour weekly with Jesus:

Susanne Quinn-Perron 945-9810; Angela Rasaiah 949-2208; and Raffaela Medaglia 206-3968.

October – Month of the Holy Rosary Life is Precious Ministry invites all parishioners to a Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 10th at 1:00 p.m. to be held on the grounds of our Lady of Good Counsel Church. We will gather on the east side of the parking lot by the Grotto of our Lady of Fatima. In light of the Synod of Bishops on the Family meeting during the month of October, our desire is to pray for this Synod and for our own families, many of which are in crisis today. St. John Paul II urged Christian families to pray by reciting the Rosary, and the need to return to this practice of family prayer. Children are most especially welcomed! Claudette Breton Co-ordinator, Life is Precious Ministry
