The above recognition also applies to holders ofthe Full Technological Diploma (FTD), formerlyknown as Full Technological Certificate or (FTC).

Students holding a Technician Diplomamay be considered for first year entry to aBournemouth University Bachelors degree.Each application will be judged on the merit ofthe student’s full profile, including gradesachieved during full schooling, English languagecapabilities, extra curricular activities andrelevant employment experience.

The above IVQs will provide a suitablebenchmark entry point though successfulcompletion will not assure that an offer is madeto the candidate.

Bournemouth University is consistently rankedamong the UK’s top performing modernuniversities. The Guardian’s University Guide hasnamed the University number one newuniversity and number one for studies in tourismfor the last two years. The University has around17,000 students, including over 1600international students from 130 countries.

Bournemouth claims a number of innovative‘firsts’ in its growing portfolio of courses,including in the area of tourism, media-relatedprogrammes and conservation. Among the new developments is the world’s first fullycommercial teaching hotel, a four-starestablishment with public- and private-sectorbacking.

The University houses the National Centre forComputer Animation, whose graduates nowwork for large companies in the entertainmentindustry with movies such as Shrek, Happy Feetand Lord of the Rings.

Bournemouth boasts some of the best beachesin the UK and is less than two hours away fromLondon.

All Engineering programmes require evidence ofperformance in Maths to the equivalent of atleast grade B at A level.

Durham University is one of the UK topuniversities and the third oldest in England,behind Cambridge and Oxford. There arearound 15,000 students, including over 3000international students from more than 120countries.

Durham is consistently ranked amongst theleading universities in the world and recognisedfor having world-class research in every singlearea of assessment across the sciences, socialsciences and humanities. The University’s MBAprogramme was ranked at eighth position in theUK and 53rd in the world, by the Economist.

Entrance requirements are among the highest in Britain, but the dropout rate of less than 3 percent is also among the lowest in any university.

The city is picturesque and students who arelucky enough to secure a place at the Universitylive and study in the midst of a world heritagesite. University College, also know as the‘Castle’, was founded in 1832 and is the oldestuniversity building in the world.

Durham is a centre of sporting excellence andhas outstanding sport facilities. About 90% of thestudents play sport regularly.

The Advanced Technician Diploma willpermit entry to year 3 of the BEng Electronic andCommunication Engineering.

This will allow a degree to be obtained after oneyear of study and an honours degree after two.

Edinburgh Napier is one of Scotland’s leadingmodern universities with a distinctlyinternational flavour. There are around 15,000students at the University, including over 2000international students from more than 100countries.

Edinburgh Napier was the first UK university toopen an office in Beijing and it has almost 2000students studying on programmes delivered inChina, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia.

The University’s academic outlook is largelyvocational, offering a range of flexible studymethods and entry routes. Over the years,the university has produced impressiveemployability records.

Edinburgh Napier has been awarded theQueen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher andFurther Education for 2009 in recognition ofwork of a world-class standard of excellence.

Napier has been held up as a model to otheruniversities trying to reduce wastage rates. The university uses its own students to mentornewcomers.

The University welcomes applications fromholders of a Technician Diploma or AdvancedTechnician Diploma.

All such applicants will be treated on anindividual basis. All BEng programmes requireevidence of performance in Maths to theequivalent of at least grade C at A level.

Holders of an Advanced TechnicianDiploma will normally be eligible to apply forentry to the second year of a three-year BEngdegree in Electronic Engineering.

Consideration will also be given for entry to thesecond year in all other programmes.

Holders of a Technician Diploma willnormally be eligible to apply for entry to the firstyear of a three-year BEng degree in ElectronicEngineering.

Consideration will also be given to candidateswishing to pursue other programmes inEngineering and Technology, including the four-year BEng programmes (with a foundation year)and the three-year BSc programmes.

The University of Hull is a traditional, medium-size university, ranked in the top 10 UKuniversities for student satisfaction in theNational Student Survey (NSS) for the fifth yearrunning.

The University has a reputation for friendlinessand recorded one of the biggest rises inapplications (25%) of any university at the start of2009. There are around 20,000 students,including 2000 international students from over1000 countries.

It provides details on the skills that candidatesare required to demonstrate in order to achievea City & Guilds certificate, helps learners toprepare for job interviews and allows employersto choose the best candidate to work for theirorganisation.
