28th
Sunday in Ord. Time
10th / 11th October 2015 Vol. 33 No. 44
Paul and Sonia Tanham are
celebrating their 60th wedding
anniversary on the 19th August.
They came to the Holy Rosary
Parish in 1966 with four children
and two more children were born
while they lived in Woodlands. All
of their six children and seven of
their grandchildren have been
educated in Holy Rosary school,
Siena, Marist Brothers and now
Newman College. Paul and Sonia
have been part of the Holy Rosary
Parish for the past 48 years and
they have seen many changes over
the years including the building of
the church. They look forward to
many more years at the church
and in the area.
What Are Our Priorities?
Workers in some industries these days are monitored by the minute. Their time is measured relentlessly for its economic value. The pressure to be constantly productive can be immense. It can take a huge toll on employee’s health and well-being. No wonder we relish other spheres of life where time isn’t evaluated n monetary terms.
In light of this it may seem unfair to raise a question about how we spend our ‘free’ time. Yet there’s every chance we’d learn a lot from an honest audit of the time and effort we choose to invest in things. It could bring to light what we actually value rather than what we think or say we value. Further steps could lead us to reflect on what the exercise has revealed and to reassess our priorities. A final step, if we had the courage which the rich man of the gospel did not, would be to let go of what possess us and make room for the reign of God in our lives. Even if we only get to first base, we can be sure that Jesus will look steadily at us and love us.

“Caritas Australia would like to say a big
thank you to all parishioners for your
generous support of Project Compassion
2015. The grand total donated by the
parish was $4,328.60. Your generosity has

Parish Ministries: Counters
The monies received each weekend at Masses in the second collection need to be counted, recorded and banked. This income is the principal source of funds into the Planned Giving Program from which a vast range of parish expenses are met.
The task is cheerfully tackled every week by one of six counting teams drawn from the ranks of volunteer parishioners.
Typically the work only takes an hour to 90 minutes but the greater the involvement by volunteers, the lighter the burden. The parish would like to attract a few additional teams so the roster can be spread over more weeks.
Barry Johnston is the person to talk to about joining or forming a counting team. He’s on 9341 4405 and email [email protected]
Words of Wisdom
To succeed in life, you need three
things: a wishbone, a backbone
and a funny bone! [anon.] ________________________________________________________________________
