28 th Sunday in Ord. Time 10 th / 11 th October 2015 Vol. 33 No. 44 What Are Our Priorities? Workers in some industries these days are monitored by the minute. Their time is measured relentlessly for its economic value. The pressure to be constantly productive can be immense. It can take a huge toll on employee’s health and well-being. No wonder we relish other spheres of life where time isn’t evaluated n monetary terms. In light of this it may seem unfair to raise a question about how we spend our ‘free’ time. Yet there’s every chance we’d learn a lot from an honest audit of the time and effort we choose to invest in things. It could bring to light what we actually value rather than what we think or say we value. Further steps could lead us to reflect on what the exercise has revealed and to reassess our priorities. A final step, if we had the courage which the rich man of the gospel did not, would be to let go of what possess us and make room for the reign of God in our lives. Even if we only get to first base, we can be sure that Jesus will look steadily at us and love us. Amended Office Hours Please note the office hours for the time being are: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 10 am 12 pm NB: There will be no 7 am weekday Mass from Monday 21 st September until Monday 26 th October

What Are Our Priorities?

“Caritas Australia would like to say a big

thank you to all parishioners for your

generous support of Project Compassion

2015. The grand total donated by the

parish was $4,328.60. Your generosity has

made it possible for Caritas Australia to

support the world’s poorest people to

establish sustainable food sources for life.

Together, we walk with them as they free

themselves from the burden of food

insecurity and develop income streams for

a better future.”

Parish Ministries: Counters

The monies received each weekend at Masses in the second collection need to be counted, recorded and banked. This income is the principal source of funds into the Planned Giving Program from which a vast range of parish expenses are met.

The task is cheerfully tackled every week by one of six counting teams drawn from the ranks of volunteer parishioners.

Typically the work only takes an hour to 90 minutes but the greater the involvement by volunteers, the lighter the burden. The parish would like to attract a few additional teams so the roster can be spread over more weeks.

Barry Johnston is the person to talk to about joining or forming a counting team. He’s on 9341 4405 and email [email protected]

Words of Wisdom

To succeed in life, you need three

things: a wishbone, a backbone

and a funny bone! [anon.] ________________________________________________________________________

Planned Giving

Planned Giving Statements for the 2014/15 year are available for collection from the back of the church. Thank you for your continued support

of our Parish.

If you have any queries with Planned Giving, or would like to contribute to this programme, please contact Doris Zambonetti on 0428 441 566 or email [email protected]. We can arrange for you to receive Planned Giving envelopes, or to make Direct Debit contributions through a bank account or credit card.
