Tiger Chocolate Exit Point – by Lily Cole During our IPC unit Chocolate we learned many new things! The Tiger class shared their learning with parents and other students last Thursday. We set up stations to display things we learned about. Our first station was Geography. In geography we learned about where cocoa beans are grown and about importers and exporters. Our second station was International Studies. In International Studies we learned about cocoa farmers and Fair Trade. Fair Trade means that the people who grow and work on cocoa farms get a fair amount of money for their cocoa beans. Our third station was about Science. In science we learned about tooth decay and Fair Tests. We learned that the sugar in chocolate can cause tooth decay. We also learned that in a Fair Test, one thing stays the same or constant and one thing about it is changed to compare. In History we learned about European explorers who first brought cocoa to Europe.

Our final station was the Chocolate Shop! We made hot cocoa, truffles, chocolate covered raisins and plain milk chocolate. We designed our own chocolate wrappers and hand wrapped our chocolates. Instead of selling our chocolate products we took donations. We raised more than 100,000 WON for Aikwangaon Orphanage!

Scanvenger hunting for Clues… Cooperating to Unscramble the Puzzle…

On Thursday the ‘Amazing Race Club’ (ARC) had their first race. Members drew ribbons to see which of the two teams they would be in (Blue or Green). Team Blue were led by their team leader, Shreyan (Tiger class) while Team Green were led by Leif (Lion class). For their first challenge, teams had to do a scavenger hunt to find 7 envelopes which would point them to their next location. Their second challenge tested both teams on their knowledge of the teachers in the lower school. In their third challenge, teams had to each do 5 rounds on the hula-hoop. Both teams breezed through the challenge and it was a race to the finish line after they had solved their final clue. It was a close race but the blue team managed to have all members arrive at the ‘Pit Stop’ just before the Green team, making them the champions of the first race. Both teams showed great resilience, communication and cooperation as they completed each challenge and solved the various clues. Congratulations to all members of the ARC for successfully finishing their first race!
