A generous opticalchamber in theMongoose luminairepermits the use ofvertical lamporientation,maximizing spacingwith optimumuniformity. Theunique square
pattern ensures that light travels between poles, whichreduces dark areas common to horizontal lamp units.
Segmented or parabolic hydro-formed optical systemsput the light where it is desired. The Mongoose luminaire is available in a choice of twotilts – “low tilt” or “high tilt” for flexibility in specifyingthe luminaire based upon your particular application requirements.
Low Tilt (0° to 18°)
Low tilt Mongoose luminaires can be tilted between 0° and 18°and provide full cutoff, cutoff, and semi-cutoff distributions.For areas with night skies concerns, low tilt provides a solutionto light trespass issues. Mongoose luminaires with low tilt aremost frequently used in areas that are typically lit by cobraheador shoebox fixtures.

High Tilt (27° to 45°)
High tilt Mongoose luminaires can be tilted between 27° and45°. Mongoose luminaires with high tilt are offset luminairesthat are typically mounted up to 1.5 mounting heights off theroadway. In addition, offset luminaires are also extensively usedin institutional, correctional, and industrial applications forperimeter and security lighting.

Maintenance is simplified as all systemsare interchangeable. A commonelectrical assembly allows electricalcomponents to be replaced in less thanone minute without the use of tools.Installation and maintenance are alsoeased due to the fixture mounting on topof the pole opposed to an arm extendedover the roadway.

Luminaire shall be Holophane Mongoose®, Catalog No. G _________.It shall consist of mounting, optical, support and electrical systems aswell as finish cover and will provide certain performancecharacteristics as follows:
Mechanical Construction:
The housing, door and fitter shall be die cast aluminum. They shallundergo a six stage cleaning and pretreatment process and over-coated with an electrostatically applied 2 to 4 mil coat of TGICpolyester powder paint cured at 425°F. The finish shall withstand a160 inch-pound impact measured with a standard Gardner impacttester. It shall have passed a 1000 hour salt spray test as specified byASTM B-117. It shall exhibit no cracking or loss of adhesion from a180° bend over a 1/8” mandrel diameter per ASTM D522. All externalhardware shall be corrosion resistant. Housing access shall not requiretools. The fitter shall be built in and accommodate a standard 2 inchtenon or arm. Units can be tilted between 0° and 18° or 27° and 45°.Electrical connection shall be inside the fitter assembly and not requirefixture entry. A terminal block located inside the fitter shall beprovided if specified.
Quick Disconnect Electrical Assembly:The fixture door shall contain all ballast components and be hingedfor fast tool-free removal and replacement. Complete replacementshall take less than 60 seconds.
Ballast:Shall be copper wound, high power factor type as specified. It shallreliably start the lamp in ambient temperatures to minus 40°F. Theplug-in HPS starter shall be totally encapsulated with a material thatelectrically and thermally insulates all components from lamp andballast heat. A protected starter, if specified, shall sense an inoperativelamp and shut down automatically to prevent continuous pulsing andthermal damage to itself and the ballast secondary winding. TheMongoose luminaire is UL/CUL listed for 40°C ambient. (347V, 400WHPS restricted to 25°C ambient.)
Optical and Socket Assembly: The reflector shall consist of high purity (#3002 alloy) aluminum ofminimum 0.08” thick sheet. Flat lens shall be 1/8” fully temperedglass. Pressed prismatic or clear drop lens shall be manufactured ofborosilicate glass. The reflector and lens optical assembly shall bedesigned to provide the IESNA pattern specified. The socket shall bepulse rated, nickel-plated and lamp grip porcelain enclosed. It shallprevent undue lamp vibration and withdrawal.
ANSI Lamp Label:A self-adhesive label shall be provided which identifies the lamp typeand size. It shall meet ANSI C-136 standards.
Warranty:The electrical assembly shall be fully warranted for a period of 6 yearsand the housing for a period of 2 years from the date of manufacture.
