Technical description The HIP (Hall Installation Plate), type “water and air” distributes compressed air and cooling water between the RIP modules (which are connected to welding guns) on site. Air line: As shown in the air circuit below, the air enters the service unit from the top via a 2” lockable ball valve (-Q1). The service unit is equipped with an air filter (-V1), a branching module (-X1) and an air flow sensor (-B2). The air pressure sensor (-B1) is connected to the branching module and is mounted on an aluminium plate. A ball valve with spring return hand lever (-Q3) can exhaust the air line in case maintenance is needed. There is also a 2” lockable ball valve in the air line (-Q2) for opening/closing the downstream line. Water line-intake: As per the water circuit below, water flows in from the JLR network via a 2” lockable ball valve (-Q4) and enters the DN50 double filter. Both the water pressure and the temperature are monitored using a thermo-pressure gauge (-P1). The double filter unit is equipped with two pressure gauges (-P2 and –P3), which indicate the pressure upstream and downstream of the filter. The filter must be serviced in case of high pressure losses. Water line-return: The pressure and temperature of the return water can be checked with a thermo-pressure gauge (-P4). The return line can be also blocked using a 2” lockable ball valve (-Q5).
