It’s the Lottery’s 15th Anniversary! Or is it our 15th Birthday? No matter how you view it, what a fantastic fifteen years it has been. The Lottery plans to offer fun and excitement for players with multiple promotions throughout the summer. This includes a Powerball New Year’s Rockin’ Eve promotion giving away two grand prize trips to New York City for the 2020 New Year’s ball drop and fifteen first prize $1,000 cash prizes; a Pick & Click discount promotion; Points for Prizes discount incentives; and member sign up incentives. Keep an eye on the Lottery-In-Motion monitors and point-of-sale items for more details.
The Lucky for Life® game has been around for over three years now and sales continue to exceed expectations. Since it launched in January 2016 through February 2019, Lucky for Life sales totaled over $11.9 million. That is a weekly sales average of $74,456, reflecting a weekly sales per capita average of 9.8 cents. Current sales are well above the projected weekly sales average of $60,431 or 8.0 cents per cap.
Lucky for Life players have won over $6.4 million in prizes, including six winners of $25,000 a year for life. We are still waiting for the first North Dakota grand prize winner of $1,000 a day for life. Will your store sell the first “for life” grand prize winning ticket and earn a $25,000 sales bonus?
It has been five years since the installation of the new lottery equipment. I hope the equipment continues to positively impact your business by improving the speed of lottery transactions, moving lottery players through the check-out lines quickly, freeing up clerk time, and increasing lottery sales. The last Manager Opinion Survey was conducted in October 2016. The Lottery’s Customer Service Specialists will hand deliver a survey in June during their delivery/setup of the Powerball New Year’s Rockin’ Eve promotion point-of-sale items. The survey requests feedback on equipment, service calls, point-of-sale items and promotions. Please take the time to complete the survey. The Lottery looks forward to building on the future of our partnership. We continue to place a high priority on providing quality customer service while growing our partnership to increase your sales and maximize revenue for the benefit of the citizens of North Dakota.
MANUALLY CASHING TICKETSLottery tickets can be cashed from any screen using the barcode scanners. In the case that a barcode is unreadable, tickets can be cashed man-ually. To manually cash lottery tickets:
1. At the HOME screen, touch the CASH tab;2. Touch the [Cash Draw Ticket] button and con-
firm that the Mode is set to New Format;3. Use the keypad to enter the serial number and
touch [OK].4. The terminal prints a receipt. 5. Give receipt to player as well as return all win-
ning and non-winning tickets to player.
The Lucky for Life Instant Luck promotion was a resounding success! Lucky for Life sales for the four week promotion saw a 118% increase in sales when compared to the 26-week, weekly average prior to the promotion. Total sales reached $525,852 and players won over $34,000 in instant prizes. The sales increase generated an additional $14,244 in retailer commissions.
