Dear families, friends, and paratroopers of 2 Fury – Since
our last newsletter in March, the Battalion has been ex-
tremely busy. During this period the Battalion completed all
of our post-deployment recovery tasks, conducted several
airborne operations, executed multiple live fire range scenar-
ios, ran numerous leader development courses, and provided
critical out-load support to the 82nd Airborne Division during
two large scale exercises. The culminating point for the Bat-
talion was an intensive training cycle (ITC) in which the entire
battalion deployed to the field for a three week period.
During our recent three week ITC the Battalion executed a
wide range of tasks, some of which have not been a focus for
a number of years. We started our training cycle by conduct-
ing a late night air assault of the Battalion Scout and Mortar
platoons. Several hours later the remainder of the Battalion
kicked off the training exercise by executing an airborne op-
eration followed by a long tactical foot march into various
training scenarios.
For the remainder of the three weeks, the Battalion con-
ducted numerous live fire scenarios, tactical sustainment
operations, platoon tactical training scenarios, advanced
marksmanship ranges, and air assaults supported by the
82nd Airborne Division Aviation Brigade. We did all this while
living in the field under very austere conditions without the
infrastructure we’ve become accustomed to.
At the individual level, our Paratroopers accomplished a
tremendous amount during ITC. Our Scouts walked over
eighty miles during the three week exercise while conducting
reconnaissance missions. Our eight cooks prepared two
meals daily in the field for over six hundred Paratroopers.
The mechanics conducted field maintenance which kept the
Battalion running. Every Paratrooper in the Battalion con-
ducted the three week exercise in a tactical environment
without shelter, facilities, or regular transportation. The com-
mon mode of travel was the foot march.
We wrapped up the three week exer-
cise by conducting a thirteen mile foot
march back to the Battalion area where
we were met by families and a great
cookout. We officially closed out our
ITC by presenting over sixty achievement medals and coins to
Paratroopers who distinguished themselves during training.
As we move forward in May, we look forward to the upcom-
ing sports, festivities, and ceremonies as part of All American
Week. As we transition into June we will once again have an
opportunity to display our unique capability when we partici-
pate in a brigade training exercise for a week-long period fol-
lowing a major airborne operation.
I am immensely proud of the hard work and tremendous
progress made by each and every Paratrooper in the Battalion
over the last several months. The men and women of this
Battalion continue to fully dedicate themselves to mission ac-
complishment no matter what the task. Their selfless dedica-
tion and tireless work ethic on a
daily basis is humbling and amaz-
ing to watch.
Again, I would like to thank all
of our family members who sup-
port our Paratroopers on a daily
basis. The support you provide to
your Paratrooper and our team
has a direct impact to our ability
to train and accomplish our daily
tasks. This directly impacts our
mission readiness and ultimately
our ability to answer our Nation’s
call whenever required. Thank
you for all you do.

GREETINGS FROM ALPHA COMPANY!
Alpha Company started a successful ITC with an Airborne
Assault onto Sicily Drop Zone on April 16th into a company
mission. Followed by a foot march, Alpha Company Para-
troopers rolled into Platoon STX Lanes with an Air Assault. A
Co then moved to Range 28 for an Advanced Rifle Marks-
manship range, followed by room clearing drills and live fires
in the Shoot House at Range 68. The Paratroopers closed
out the first two weeks with Platoon Live Fires at West
McKeithan Pond before coming in for the weekend of April
27th for a refit. A Co deployed back to the field April 29th for
more room clearing live fires at Live Fire Village, followed by
IED classes and platoon lanes. A Co concluded the Intensive
Training Cycle with a 2 day Company Mission and a 13-mile
road march back to the Battalion Area, where they were wel-
comed back by the 2 Fury Family Readiness Group with a
barbeque.

GREETINGS FROM BRAVO COMPANY!
Bravo Company completed our Intensive Training Cycle, which consisted of
three arduous, but rewarding, weeks in the field that thoroughly tested us.
All Bravo Company Paratroopers greatly improved their individual abilities as
well as their capability to effectively work together. The first two weeks con-
sisted of platoon level training including air assaults, complex scenarios, and
live fire exercises. After this we returned home for the weekend to enjoy a
much needed breather. Come Monday morning however, it was right back
into the grind. The final week of training was highlighted by a successful
company sized attack with a multitude of moving parts. Everything culmi-
nated in a twelve mile ruck march back to the battalion area. Bravo Com-
pany was honored with being the lead unit in the formation. There are many
more training events planned for the future and we will endeavor to continue
to improve ourselves in every way possible.

GREETING FROM CHARLIE
COMPANY!
The Paratroopers of Charlie Company recently com-
pleted their three week Intensive Training Cycle (ITC).
The training cycle itself kicked off with an Airborne
Operation and included an Air Assault Operation, a
Platoon Live Fire event, a Live Fire range, and several
different Squad and Platoon lanes that tested and
honed their skills. The training cycle was concluded
with a twelve mile Foot March back to the Battalion
area and a Battalion barbeque to celebrate their ac-
complishments. On behalf of Charlie Company, we
would like to congratulate all of our paratroopers on
successfully completing ITC and thank all of their
families for their ongoing support.

GREETINGS FROM DELTA COMPANY!
Delta Company has moved into the second quarter of 2013
with a full head of steam and a lot of great training planned.
During the three weeks in the field for ITC, the Company be-
came very comfortable with operating all of its gun trucks and
weapon systems. We were also able to practice something that
the Battalion has not done in a long time; conduct multiple
sling-load operations with the assistance and aviation assets
provided by our brothers in the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade.
Over the next several weeks we will be very busy with cleaning
up Salerno DZ as part of Clean Sweep and participating in
sports and the Division Review for All American Week. At the
end of June, we will be participating in 3rd BCT’s JOAX which
entails a jump into an Airfield Seizure, immediately followed by
a week of field training.

MAINTENANCE PLATOON set the new standard for FURY Brigade by leading
the way with field maintenance during 2 Fury’s ITC rotation. For the first
time in recent memory, Maintenance Platoon deployed all of its assets to a
field environment to include the Welding, Armament, and C&E shops as
well as the full capacity of automatic repairs equipment. During this period
Maintenance troopers demonstrated they can do it all by not only complet-
ing their primary mission of repairing the BN’s equipment but also conduct-
ing convoys, jumping field sites three times, camouflaging all of their equip-
ment, selecting and digging fighting positions, conducting sling load opera-
tions and executing day and night recovery missions throughout the Ft.
Bragg training areas. Maintenance Platoon continues to demonstrate how
vital and versatile they are when it comes to executing the 2 Fury mission.
It is clear after ITC that no mission will fail on their watch.
Maintenance Platoon would like to congratulate SGT Villa and his wife Ma-
sami who welcomed babies Ryoma and Ryuhi on 7 May 2013.
The DISTRIBUTION PLATOON hit the ground running and continued at a
breakneck pace through the Intensive Training Cycle. Distro platoon began
by drawing, issuing, and recovering the parachutes being used for the com-
bat jump into ITC. Immediately after, the Platoon started to conduct trans-
portation movement for the remaining Paratroopers in the Battalion. For
the three weeks, Distro Platoon conducted Logistics Release Point (LRP)
Operations, where we set up at a grid while the infantrymen filed through
with vehicles to resupply food, water, fuel, and ammunition. Upon comple-
tion of ITC not only did Distro platoon continue to transport, we participated
in the 12 mile foot march back to the battalion with a 100% completion.
Distro Platoon would like to congratulate SPC Failing and his wife Alison,
who welcomed home baby Marvin on 2 May 2013 and are doing well. They
were very happy and appreciative of the care package that came from
FRG! We are saying farewell to two of our greatest Paratroopers: SPC
Briones, SPC Defelice, and Distro Platoon leader 1LT Glaspie. We also wel-
comed Distro’s new Platoon Sergeant SFC Sutton and Platoon Leader 1LT
Lauterbacher. We also welcomed our three newest Paratroopers PFC Rob-
erts, PV2 Zavala and PV2 Seabrook.
DFAC personnel continue to surpass all expectations both in and out of the
consolidated dining facility. The DFAC section fed over 650 paratroopers
on a 2 hot meal a day schedule during the recent three week Intensive
Training Cycle. This equaled nearly 20,000 meals served over the period of
the Intensive Training Cycle. The DFAC would like to congratulate SPC Mar-
tin for setting the standard for the entire installation of Fort Bragg as the
Junior Cook of the Quarter for the 2nd quarter fiscal year 13. THE DFAC
section would like to congratulate and farewell SSG Matthew Silver who
passed the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course. He will be
moving to SWCS.

GREETINGS FROM HHC!
Mortar Platoon—Since our last newsletter the Mortar platoon has
got after it. The Paratroopers all qualified expert on their gunners
exam after continuous repetitions of crew drills and instruction
from their leadership. All Mortar sections conducted certification
at OP15 and are now certified with 60mm, 81mm and 120mm
Mortar systems. During ITC the Mortar Platoon conducted an Air
Assault, Airborne assault and provided indirect fire support for
maneuver elements within the Battalion. SGT Stockner and SGT
Heckendorn were promoted and now get to lead as NCOs. SSG
Schauer, SGT Stocker, SGT Colquhoun, SPC Leaman and SPC
Woodford all graduated from IMLC. SSG Schauer was the Honor
Graduate and SGT Stocker made the Commandant’s List.
Scout Platoon—The Scout Platoon recently supported the BN Op-
eration during our first ITC since redeployment. This was the first
time that the majority of our Troopers were asked to perform in a
doctrinal reconnaissance role. The Scouts conducted an air as-
sault and recon of an objective 24 hours prior of the arrival of the
remainder of BN. They refined their new skill set all while gather-
ing crucial intelligence on the battlefield in support of our other
units and their operations. Following the road march back from
ITC to the BN area, we had the privilege of promoting SGT Bodine
and SGT Wynne to the NCO ranks. Both will no doubt continue to
raise the standard of the team as they progress as leaders in our
ranks.
Medical Platoon—We would like to congratulate SPC Roscheflores
on his recent promotion and SPC Gustafson for receiving the
highly coveted Expert Field Medical Badge. We would also like to
welcome our new Medics SSG Arwood, PFC Bahn, PVT McCoy and
their families to our unit. These next couple of months are impor-
tant to the success of our Paratroopers as we head into another
Expert Field Medical Badge Assessment iteration and participate
in upcoming Airborne Operations. Our Troopers continually strive
to break new barriers and we are excited to see the future suc-
cess of our team.

Chaplain’s Corner
The 2Fury UMT had a great time during our
Intensive Training Cycle. We visited with our
companies, conducted worship services and
counseling, and trained alongside our Troop-
ers. A highlight was leading a worship ser-
vice with A Company. Many Troopers came
forward during Communion. Their faces and
uniforms were stained with dirt as they
came to receive. It was a beautiful sight as
these mighty Warriors acknowledged their
dependence upon the Lord. That moment
warmed my heart. This is what it's all about!
