2MIT6210 LEADERSHIP
ASSIGNMENT 1
Introduction:
To become a leader it is mandatory to have undaunted determination, firm faith,
no limits in strength, no dimension of the time, motivational skills, knowledge and etc.
Search based on Leadership treats are going through an ages. Firstly people wanted toknow the correct difference between an individual and leader. Early different facets and
characteristics of the leadership were measure. Some people like Galton in 1869 termed
leader as a powerful man, he described leadership skill as inherent, and means leaders areall made, not trained. After that researches continued and hence derived the formulae that
Leaders are not born they are made. If one has aspiration and willpower, educated,
experienced, he could be the leader of the organization. So therefore:
Leadership is the art of accomplishing more than the science of management says
is possible. -- CollinPowell
Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish anobjective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and
coherent. ---Anonymous
"Effective leadership is the ability to successfully integrate and maximize available
resources within the internal and external environment for the attainment of
organizational or societal goals. -- Ken SKC, Ogbonnia
Considering these real definitions, leaders are the roof of the companies which alwaysprovide shadow, even in the rainy days or in the happy time. Leaders are meant to
develop and generate understanding among staff. Whether the environment is external or
internal leaders have to exploit business with vivacious leadership skills.
Leadership is based on the teamwork, every team needs a leader. Leaders are
incomplete without team and vice versa. Many heads and hands are way better than the
one, whilst concentrating on this slogan this is cleared that teams are basically flour of thebusiness building without flour no one can stand. Human have been started working with
the team from the childhood when play with siblings, join groups in schools, playing
different games. These all factors are realized by teamwork.
The business definition of teamwork relates to the collective decision
making processes that lead to goal oriented relationships formed between all
participants. --Anonymous
Normally teams are required to be self motivated and keen to achieve desired goal.
These all facets could be done with enthusiasm, measuring the motives and continuousmotivation. Leaders play golden role in developing these qualities in the staff.
Team development which is only possible with effective leadership is the key aspect
of todays business world. Where as communication is another precious function whichhelps businesses to generate more profit. Companies are keen to introduce new offers for
the staff and this ends in motivating tools.

ASSIGNMENT 1
Leadership:
After looking at the short introduction to leadership, now this report willdetermine leadership and its perspectives. Bass theory of leadership utters that there are
three main ways to understand how to become a leader, in which first two realize the
small group of people. These theories are based on headings:1. Personality Traits: Under this function leaders are inherently playing leadership
roles in the organization, For Example an Indian Restaurant owner is illiterate
person but still owns and running the business successfully.2. A crisis or important evens: it would cause the climb of customer towards its
profitable region. This function evaluate extraordinary qualified usually found in
such kind of ordinary leaders.
3. Choosing and learning to become user: it is possible to learn and get experience indifferent firms in order to design Leadership Skills.
These three facets are the transformational Leadership theory and they are the soul of
the business now.
Leaders should have their own honorable characteristics. Their real duty is to provideinfinite self services without thinking about selfless services. Therefore Leader is the
single mainly dependable predictor of employee fulfillment in an organization. Leaders
would not want staff to obey them, they want them to follow them, and so leader should
target his position into staffs eye. They always gets positive image in the eyes of marketas well. The first and final objective of any organization is to enhance profit, so leaders
always get trained of facing different changes and environment. They are the people who
concentrate on their own beliefs and characteristics. Leader always uses these staffsegments in order to achieve good feedback from staff and then he/she can apologize if
there is any problem and start sorting the error.

nowadays; leader is an appropriate teacher as well so he must be perfect at IT.3. Responsibility: in order to gain more profit leader has to drive the team upward to
the new heights of success. Sometimes decisions are wrong, so mistakes occur,

Communication Importance in Leadership:
No one would talk much in society if they knew how often they misunderstood
others.
- Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Truly said quote is describing the same illumine of communication in an
organization. It is the major rationale which could destroy the density of management.
Leadership is based on communication as well as teamwork. Motivation also takes helpfrom communication, because it is the chief base of motivation. Almost motivation
occurs through communication. It is a delivery and keeping process so that leaders could
deliver message and as a result feedback from staff side.

ASSIGNMENT 1
Effective listening will occur only if the listener understood the message fully and
give feedback.
Communication is essential to effective leadership. Its often something we
take for granted and not given the attention it deserves.
--Saul Alansky
Communication plays vital role in leadership and teamwork functions, and many
misconceptions come forward due to the lack of effective communication. Some peopleare not confident enough to deliver their proper message so that listener can listen to it
and give feedback. In interest of getting involved in training about communication,
leaders should take place special training. The huge reason for the lack of communication
is culture and different language medium. While thinking about Ireland, Polish is almostthe second language of Ireland but still in firms communication problem occurs.
Teamwork need unity, communication is the way to unite organizations or even
countries.
Teamwork development:
As this report discussed about teamwork before and it has been mentioned along
with leadership, instead of them there are some important theories and explanation aboutTeamwork development. Follow chart would thoroughly explore the key idea of
Teamwork and its development:
T Employee should have Talent in the field of organization, leaders should make surethe worker is well aware of all the work and have specific knowledge about it.
E Employee should be enthusiastic; he must know how to use and where to use histalent. Leader should direct them towards rightway.
A Leaders are not only responsible for everything; workers also have the same job totake responsibility of their task. So Accountability is also important compulsion.
M Leader and Workers should know how to Manage the organization. How to design
the workplace and how to accomplish goals in managed way.
W Work-able means if the Employee or Leader has all the above mentioned qualities,
but not punctual or not attending shifts properly, so there is no point of strong team.
O Understanding and Opening Relationship between team members is the key facet to
work together like a friends and family. Leaders should give some time to sharefeelings and enjoy friendship in order to gain trust and enhance revenues.
R Mutual Respect of everyone is the rule for any organization. In team there is differin age, so there should be a respect even though the position is higher or lower
respect is mandatory.
K Keenness for the work could be developed by leaders by motivating and rewardssystem. In these circumstances employees will definitely get keen about there work.

ASSIGNMENT 1
Tuckman Team Development Stages:
As all the teams pass through heterogeneous series of stages of development in a
sufficient and authentic way. Team as well has different kind of people with similarexperiences and shared tasks. Tuckman designed four stages of team development, which
has also been taken by other thinkers:
1. Forming: at the stage of forming group has just developed with the help of some
individuals. At this stage the mission of the group is to give title, composition, leader selection and etc. Individual would like to take place roles in different
model and they are keen to join their choices field. Trust would be grown up and
new friends sharing feelings and understanding each other at workplace. So theleader will then categorize the positions and strengths for every individual in
order to shape the TEAM.
2. Storming: Most of the groups will see the stage where individual cannot reallyunderstanding each other, each one has own opinions, Leadership may bechallenged hugely. Some hidden points may get on to front. This stage is
formation of strong trust on each other and starts working together as united gang.
3. Norming: now the functions start and members are mature enough to make theirtarget finish. They are going through different experiments and norms. Members
endeavor to work along and make the job finished.
4. Performing: after the successful 3 stages, now this is the final stage which isenabling to accomplish if any stage is missing. Production is now finally done.
Members of the team know how to work together in order to achieve produce
something.
First two stages could be sort out in meetings even, after that planning and organizingtake more time.
Project Management Group:
After receiving a confused task of arranging CULTURAL DAY in GRAFTON
COLLEGE, students get into deep theories of arranging and presenting it in front of
different people. It was 13th of October when Teacher arranged roundtable meetingbetween Team Members. Before this meeting there was a stage of Forming, with loads of
complications, different ideas, unfamiliar with task, not motivated, no leader, no effectivecommunication and also no team development. Nobody seemed to go through the tasksand ideas, until first roundtable conference held.

Even though the base of the PM group was weak but after a conference between
members, it boosted up in all over the team members. There was a voting system that
who will become the Project Manager or Leader, after some arguments Vincent took overthis position with the oath of sincere leadership. So according to Bass theory, PM group
followed both important event theory and choosing/learning theory. Because eventually
he took over this seat and it was also to enhance leadership skills.
PM Group under Principles of Leadership:

ASSIGNMENT 1
PM Group in Communication Zone:
The successful day 10th of November 2009 came and delighted the college up.
The day was colorful with different food from different countries, though people from
another countries were visiting it was hard to explain them in English about food andstuff. But communication between the TEAM was highly appreciated by lecturer and
other staff visitors. Personnel Manager Abita made a good communicational speech on
her country.
PM Group under Team Development Area:
Talent
Enthusiasm
Accountability
Management
Work-able
Openness
Respect
Keenness
PM Group under the TUCKMAN Model:
1. Forming: the forming period for PM group was really hard, there wasundeveloped and unfamiliar team. No concept of the task. Lake of script of themission. Soon after conference, Group went through Forming stage successfully.
But there was some argument by some members there ideas were not matching.
And same about positions, some members werent satisfied. Soon after votingsystem everyone got date of the cultural day, leader and positions/tasks.
2. Storming: it was same situation so formation and storming stages occur together
after 2nd conference.3. Norming: after that Group jump into norming stage and there was high
relationship between members and leader. Team identity came into existence at
this stage:

ASSIGNMENT 1
Conclusion:
The report consists of all the core topics about leadership and Teamwork
Development with the strong Cultural Day case study. The reason of the Cultural day
seems to develop Leadership skills and modify teamwork skills in the students. Aftergenerating this report and arranging Cultural day, there is a huge difference in skills, they
enhanced like revolution. As report shows good leaders are the roof of the organization,
the overview of different principles of leadership and implementing them on PM Groupis quit reasonable here. After drawing all the attention towards Tucmans model it was
crystal clear that there are too many skills and the team is able to design big projects now.
As budget control was also the part of the PM group.
Recommendations:
Leaders need to be like the shadow for the company, with polite and relax
attitude.
There should be respect among staff and leader.
The concept of leadership could be more explore with respect to the motivation
aspects.
There is a chance of getting strong leader if all the workers are sincere and noble.
Most of the misconception occurs during arranging groups, that doesnt mean toleave the task. Leaders should motivate members.
Cultural Impacts, Language difference and communicational errors can be
removed by proper training. In order to progress the team it is important to make strategy first.
