THE READINGS FOR THE DAY PRAYERS ARE ASKED FOR ... Today’s Readings First Reading 2 Kings 2:1-12 The vision of Elijah being taken into heaven confirms his greatness, and also encourages Elisha in his calling, giving him confidence to begin his own powerful ministry as a prophet. Second Reading 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 The glory of God is revealed in Jesus Christ, but this is only clear to those who have believed the Gospel. Gospel Mark 9:2-9 Jesus’ true nature and identity is revealed to a select group of disciples who are able – albeit only just – to recognise him for who he is. NEXT WEEK’S SERVICES ... Those ill in hospital or at home, and for those who suffer in mind, body or spirit. Prayers are particularly asked for: Jonathan, Diane Hobbs, Helen Baker, Mike Reed, Andrew Ditty, Anna Gray and Katie Gray. We give God thanks for the lives of those who have died.
