1. Why Water In Oil System?

1) In 2-stroke engine, approx. 20% of all damages reported to classification

societies relate to bearings.

Based on statistics from Det Norske Veritas in the period from 1990 to 1996

Slow speed engines damages

Water-in oilMain Fact !

Water-in oil is a major contributor to a poor bearing condition.

1. Why Water In Oil System?

Engine type : 6S50MC-C Water contaminated in system oil. No oil mist alarm! Required a month for repair.

3) Bearing accident case, cause of water-in oil contamination.

1. Why Water In Oil System?

4) Why WIO system?

WIO system monitors the water content directly at the system and can be connected to the ship’s alarm system.

All vessels having DOOSAN-MAN engines (bore 46cm and above) ordered after Nov. 2008, have WIO system as standard.

Water-in oil is a major contributor to a poor bearing condition.

2. What is DOOSAN WIO?

1) Working principles

Monitors the water content directly at the main lub oil inlet on the engine

Measurement independent of oil type, age and temperature.

Two alarms relay for AMS. High alarm level High High alarm level

3) Main component

Controller

Sensing module

Controller Installed on each engine for analyzing of data from humidity sensing module. Displayed water-in oil value & oil temperature. Easy to download measurement history to PC.

Check up data (humidity and Temperature)
