VI T A PI U ` 30 31 VI T A PI U ` Fondazione Canossiana Onlus Fondazione Canossiana CANOSSIAN FOUNDATION CANOSSIAN FOUNDATION F rom its very creation in 2004, one of the tasks assigned to the Canossian Foundation was that of collecting resources, both financial and professional, to sustain the most varied initiatives and missionary projects of Canossian communities throughout the world. We have narrated and promoted many of these over the last few years, even through these pages, often by means of the experiences of the missionaries themselves. We have tried to give “a face and a voice” to the Canossian missions by recounting great and small initiatives of solidarity and human promotion, by transmitting the enthusiasm and passion that burns within the hearts of these missionaries and their local collaborators so as to inform and denounce situations of inequality and injustice which are unacceptable. “Vitapiù” has been, and still is, a precious means of communication and news about our activities in favour of the mission, a window open on the world that helps us to pursue the second important task entrusted to the Canossian Foundation: inform and make people aware of the problems of poverty and the needs of those most forgotten. We have tried to do this in various other ways through contact with schools and during meetings both in Italy and abroad, taking part in public events and manifestations in city squares, through newspaper articles and information pamphlets. As a support for these initiatives of communication and promotion, we have taken advantage of a powerful and useful instrument that permits us to “present and make known” the vast Canossian missionary world to an ever greater number of people and be able to transmit information and material in a simple and immediate way even to those who are not strictly connected to our great Canossian Family. The site www.fondazionecanossiana.org wishes to be a “virtual” window evermore open, rather open wide, on the Canossian missions through which everyone may be able to take a glance at our varied missionary world. Aware of the potentiality of this instrument, last February the staff of the Canossian Foundation was enriched by a young qualified collaborator, Elia Meurisse. Thanks to his work, one can find our completely renewed site, on-line, since July, that has been notably enriched and expanded both in content and services available. There are many new items: a Newsletter which you can download, an enhanced and more dynamic section of videos, photos and recorded interviews in which “the missions Internet@Mission The Canossian missionary world can be found on the web too. are recounted by the faces and voices of the missionaries themselves”. The sections dedicated to Projects and Child Sponsorship aim at interesting each one of us, and all our supporters, in children, young people and women who benefit from our activities. We would also like to thank publicly our many supporters: individuals, schools, firms and public institutions who, over the years, have made possible great and small miracles in the remotest parts of our globalized world. “Navigating” through the site of the Foundation wants to be a way of making a virtual journey into the world of “possible good” in which everyone can find all sorts of occasions to offer real help and acquire new knowledge about the important problems that afflict the most forgotten on earth. With the launching of the English version of the web site, that was activated last September, we would like to enhance access to this precious channel of information. In this year, so full of new ideas regarding communication and promotional awareness, the Canossian Foundation could not but avail itself of even the most common forms of Social Network: Facebook, YouTube. All it needs is a search in internet and a click to find us. All these channels of communication and information, with their potentiality and possibilities, are precious “instruments” for conveying a message of charity that can become something concrete by the realization and support of educational and formative itineraries in Sudan as well as Brazil, of health care and social assistance for children, the sick and the aged in Paraguay as well as India. To inform, promote, sensitize and help people know about the many expressions of Canossian missionary activity is a task that we hope to carry out always better with the help of testimonies and audio-visual presentations coming from the missions. This is our renewed effort for the new year. 1860-2012 Even in the course of 2012, Canossian missionary history has been enriched by many initiatives and gestures of concrete help for those forgotten; this has been made possible by the many friends of the Canossian missions. Many are the donors: individuals, schools, missionary groups, firms and public institutions (Trent Town Council, Schio Town Council, Autonomous Province of Trent, Region of Trent and the Autonomous Region of Trent and Alto Adige) and private institutions (Cariverona Foundation, Catholic Insurance Foundation, Harambee Africa International) as well as the Bishops Conference of Italy. To all, indistinctly and with equal warmth, we express our sincere thanks.
