Principal’s Reflection
30 July, 2015
Week 2, Term 3
Dear Families,
Our children cannot keep the smiles off their faces in this beautiful weather. How lucky we are in the
Top End at this time of year. The long weekends have given many families the opportunity to get out,
explore and spend time together. During these times it gives us time to stop and reflect on God’s beauti-
ful creation and be thankful for all that we have been blessed with. We also welcome many guests at
this time and extend them a warm welcome to our Holy Spirit Community. We always enjoy meeting the
aunties, uncles, grandparents, godparents etc. of the children at Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School.
The response to our online parent/teacher/student interviews has been fantastic with over 150 bookings so far. Parents are asked to visit
the school app or the website www.schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the code JM94E. Booking can also be made through the front
office in person or over the phone until 9am on Tuesday 4th August.
Next week’s parent/ teacher/student interviews run for approximately 10 minutes each and provide a chance for our students to con-
structively reflect upon their achievements so far this year and also set further learning goals to strive for. They give us the opportunity
to strengthen the link between home and school. In this second semester, we aim to continue to build these links through encouraging
parent helpers in all classes, or around the school. If you are able to help out in any way please contact your child’s class parent repre-
sentative, their teacher or come in to the front office. Any additional assistance, not matter how small, is greatly appreciated.
We are looking for sponsors for our Parents and Friends movie night held at Deckchair cinema on Thursday 13 th August. For the cost
of $50 dollars companies can have their products and services displayed in the “previews” for 15 minutes prior to the commencement
of our movie on the night. If you are interested in sponsoring please contact the front office.
The amount of families using our school phone app continues to be strong. It can be used to check newsletters, book interviews, order
canteen food, log absent students and receive notifications. A reminder that to get the latest information shake your phone when
the app is open or simply close the app and reopen it. In order to receive messages sent from the school you need to select ‘allow
notifications’. The app can be downloaded to any smart phone – just
search ‘Holy Spirit Catholic Primary’. If you have any questions or
need assistance, please come into the front office.
God bless you all and keep you safe,
Mr. Simon Duffy
Principal

RUGBY LEAGUE AT HOLY SPIRIT We thank Trent Gorrie, Game Development Officer from Na-
tional Rugby League (NRL) who worked with all students at
Holy Spirit this week during our Physical Education les-
sons. Our students participated in many activities learning
about the importance of team work, throwing and passing, as
well as skills required. We thank Trent for his continued sup-
port in the delivery of Physical Education at our school. We
hope that you enjoy these few photos we have shared of stu-
dents in their participation and learning.
