The story we are sculpting today dates back to early 1970s at a time when logistics providers had to deal with a staggering amount of complexity in the form of fragmented channels, expanding product variations, and increasing customer demand for customized solutions.
Back then, while working with J. B. Maina LTD (JBM) as head of transport our greatest concerns were timely delivery, profitability, cost management, and customer satisfaction. 30+ years later these are still our logistics priorities except that new challenges have emerged; market volatility, economic contractions and dispersed market segments. The challenges demand that we optimize our supply chain to remain competitive.
To respond to this shift in global supply chain realities, we sought to go beyond physically moving the product, to providing end-to-end comprehensive supply chain solutions to meet expectations of today’s logistics customers who are demanding more flexibility, transparency and timely delivery.
Come 2002, KIPEVU Inland Container Depot (KICD) launched in the Changamwe region of Mombasa,
Kenya. Our vision was to build a logistics and supply chain management company that operates in the context of a global economy.
Today KICD is at the forefront of the logistics industry providing one-stop shop cargo handling, warehousing and transportation services to the shipping and logistics industry based upon a consistently high standard of quality. Today, KICD is continuously meeting the needs of its clients and supporting the development of our people and our communities.
We attribute this continued growth to strong company management, rich experience within the logistics field and sound financial stability.

We serve regional and international markets focusing on satisfying needs in East Africa and the Great Lakes region. Our extensive fleet resources and a dedicated support network help us in fulfilling our mission to support our customers’ day-to-day operations with ease.
With Kenya as the centre of our operations, we encompass extensive air, road, rail and sea networks and industry capabilities.
The warehousing terminal is located approximately 5kms from the Mombasa Port on the Mombasa- -Nairobi Highway and is about 3kms from the Moi International Airport. The facility is strategically placed on the Mombasa – Nairobi network to receive and dispatch export and import cargo to various destination directly to/from the Depot. Its closeness to the main Airport is an excellent choice for emergency relief cargo intended for airlifting.

The warehousing team The warehousing team is involved with proper management of all client cargo, from receiving up to eventual dispatch. The team manage accurately all warehousing at the facility with clear recording and inventory management.
The management team Our management have a collective experience spanning 30+ years and are comprised of well-trained, experienced and dedicated staff that are well versed in the Import/Exports, Warehousing and Logistics operations.

Our Capabilities
We have industry capabilities and facilities to provide efficient and professional cargo handling and distribution solutions.
• We work within established quality procedures to provide each customer with the
most reliable personalized services
• The depot comprises of 3 main covered warehousing units (Total Capacity: 240,000sqft)
• The facility also comprises of 3 bulk commodity handling grain silos, 5000MT capacity
each (Total Capacity: 15,000MT).• A fully- fledged 3000sqft 3-story office block with standby generator.• 200,000sqft open yard storage (hand standing concrete flooring) with capability of
handling up to 2000 containers and vehicle offloading/ loading facility for bulk cargo.• 100MT weighbridge facility for cargo in/out weighting.
• We have invested heavily in equipment:• 2 Units 45 Ton Terex reach-stackers.
• 1 Unit 50 Ton mobile Crane.
• 1 unit 2 Ton Forklift for easy container stuffing.• 8 Units semi-trailer prime mover trucks.
• 6 units fixed chassis bulk tipper trucks.
