Poco Quatros Model A Ford Club. Board Meeting

February 17, 2017

The Board Meeting was called to order by our President, Charlie Spooner, at 6:05 pm.

Present were: Charlie Spooner, Melba Anderson, John Gibbs, Dean Arnold, Dan Pyzel, Charlie Valerio and Delberta Nemitz.

Absent were: Lyle Anderson, Al Stanley and Michael Knazovich.

Guests: Doreen Valerio, T. J. Anderson and Steve Chester.

The minutes were approved from the January meeting. No update on our website.

Status of our annual banquet in December was presented by Linden Griffee--It will be held on December 9, 2017 from noon until 4 pm at the MCM Elegante Hotel on Menual. The menu this year will be Chicken Marsala, Enchilada Plate or Pasta Primavera (vegetarian). The cost is $30.31, but each member’s meal will be subsidized so that they will pay only $20.00. However, guests will pay the entire cost of $30.31. The subsidized portion of the meal was voted on by the board. Linden Griffee made a motion regarding the above and Dan Pyzel seconded.

Again, this year we will have a silent auction. Doreen Valerio has volunteered to work on the silent auc-tion, but she needs help. We are asking for at least two additional people to help Doreen.

We will also contribute to the VA “closet” for the veterans. We are being told that socks and undershirts are in great need. Please consider donating these items. More on this subject later. Melba Anderson made a motion and Charlie Valerio seconded.

Tours were brought up—Melba Anderson mentioned Elephant Butte, April 8-9; Navajo Land, led by Lyle Anderson May 20-25, a Pinetop & Show Low tour Sept 23-27; we need a leader for this trip. The Los Ran-chos breakfast will be held June 10, Saturday. We will be inviting the Tin Lizzies to participate. Charlie Spooner will contact the V-8 club and invite their members.

The Old Car Club will meet next week. Dan Pyzel will attend the meeting. May 21st is the car show at the ABQ Museum.

Al Stanley has created a large roster. He is asking everyone to check their information to make sure eve-rything is correct before he prints a 2017 roster.

Linden Griffee proposed purchasing a brick in memory of Art Leupold and Henry Avery to be placed at the Ford Museum in Hickory Corners, MI. Dan Pyzel seconded the motion. Dan Pyzel will report regarding these bricks at the next board meeting.

Doreen Valerio requested the purchase of two new coffee urns for our meetings. Charlie Spooner asked her to look into pricing.

Charlie Valerio moved to adjourn and Dan Pyzel seconded.

Poco Quatros Model A Ford Club February Activities

February 4th was our monthly breakfast at Mick’s Chili Fix. We had 12 Model A’s in the parking lot. It must have made quite an impression because a couple came up to some of our members and were asking about our cars. Turns out they have a Model A and joined our club at the Febru-ary meeting. We had 34 Members at breakfast. We took over the entire restaurant.

Our activity was cancelled, so everyone did “their own thing” after breakfast.

February 11th was Ladies Night Out, held at Mimi’s Café. Thirty-three members and four Model A’s enjoyed a great meal.

February 17th we said good-bye to Art Leupold. I’m sure Betty appreciated the number of club members who came to the services. Delberta Nemitz

UPCOMING MODEL A CAR INSPECTION - March 4th

On March 4th after breakfast, The Club plans for members to come to the garage of Tommie An-derson to have their Model A inspected for safety concerns and other maintenance that the owner should consider doing themselves or having done. Our intent is to have safe and reliable Model As to use throughout the year. The inspection time is short so there is not enough time for many repairs or adjustments. At the inspection, a check-sheet will be provided to the owner indicating areas inspected and items that should get attention.

PLAN TO JOIN US AND BRING YOUR MODEL A The Anderson garage is at 1695 Shoshone Trail, Rio Rancho. (See map below)
