How to Use the SAP SHDB Recorder
What is SHDB?
SHDB is a batch input transaction recorder. This application is used to record transactions andscreens as users enter them. It has a “playback” feature that executes the recording in the
foreground. It allows test data to be created and uploaded.
How will it help me?
This tool is available in SAP and requires no special authorizations to be setup. A functionaluser can kickoff a recording behind the scenes while walking through a script with you - whichyou can then playback at your discretion.
How do I use it?
• Execute SAP transaction SHDB
• Click the New Recording button.

• Enter a name for the recording and the transaction code (tcode) of the first transaction tobe recorded.
• Click the Start recording button.

• Functional users can now begin using the transaction, using their screens, clicking ontabs, using drop-downs, etc. just like they normally do.
• When finished and on the last screen, click the Save icon. You will be taken back to theSHDB screen. Be sure you save the recording here, too.

Using the Recording
• The results screen will list every table, field, and data that was entered on the screen.
• The recording can now be processed without having to involve the functional person.
• Simply highlight your recording and click the Process icon,
• Accept all defaults and press Enter.

Limitations
The SHDB app has difficulty recognizing any of the new SAP “Enjoy” transactions. These aredenoted with the letter ‘N’ (i.e. ME21N, ME54N). As a workaround, you can use the traditional
Tcode if it’s available (i.e. ME21, ME54).
