A wealthy widower shared a passion for art with his only son. Together they acquired a collection of masterpieces.
The son died in a war, saving the life of another soldier. This soldier visited the father, describing how many more lives the son had saved. He gave the father a portrait he had painted of the son. The father told everyone it was the greatest gift he had ever received and gave it pride of place.
Following the old man's death, his will directed the auctioning of his art treasures. Collectors gathered from around the world. The auction began with a small undistinguished painting-the soldier's portrait of the man's son. "What am I bid?" said the auctioneer. "One hundred dollars?" Silence. "It's just his son," someone shouted "Get to the good stuff." "We must sell this one first," replied the auctioneer. "Who will take the son?" One man spoke up, "I knew him. I bid ten dollars." "Any other bids? No? The gavel fell. Cheers filled the room.
Then the auctioneer announced. "The auction is now over." In stunned disbelief someone said, "What about all the real art here? What's going on?" The auctioneer relied, "It's very simple. It's the father's will. ' Whoever receives my son.... will inherit all I have.'"

La reapertura de la Santa Misa
Se anunció que la Ciudad de Nueva York, ha reabierto desde el lunes 22 de junio, permitiendo la Fase II. -Nuestra oficina parroquial está abierta en su horario regular y misa entre semana, de martes a viernes al mediodía, los bautizos, bodas y funerales se han reanudado al 25% de la capacidad de la iglesia. Por favor, llamar a la rectoría para coordinan sus bautizos, bodas y funerales. El padre le dijo a todo el mundo que ese había sido el mejor regalo que el recibiera jamás y puso la pintura en un lugar de honor. Después de la muerte del señor, su testamento indicaba que toda su colección se subastara. Los coleccionistas vinieron de todas partes del mundo. La subasta comenzó con pintura pequeña e indiferente, el retrato del hijo del señor. ? Quien ofrece cien dólares?" pregunto el subastador. Silencio. Alguien grito: "Es sola la hijo. Siga con lo valioso." "Debemos subastar esta primero? Quien se lleva al hijo?, contesto el subastador. Uno de los participantes dijo: "yo lo conocí, así es que ofrezco diez dolores." Algunos dicen que el incentivo más fuerte es el peligro de perder el trabajo o los beneficios si no se produce adecuadamente. Otros acreditan el aumento de productividad a las atractivas recompensas monetarias integradas al sistema empresarial. De cualquier manera, la mayoría de los analistas están de acuerdo en que esa tendencia no es buena. En toda categoría de ingresos hay personas que están sacrificando demasiado el tiempo con su familia a fin de darle más tiempo al trabajo. Esta semana las tres lecturas bíblicas ejemplifican el sistema de recompensa que Dios ofrece a aquellas personas que hacen sacrificios meritorios. A diferencia de los sacrificios debido al exceso de trabajo, estos sacrificios traen recompensas eternas. La historia de Eliseo y la mujer servicial ejemplifica las recompensas por la generosidad. Ella no actúa por interés propio, sino por respecto al siervo de Dios, el profeta Eliseo. La generosidad de la mujer es recompensada con una vida nueva en su vientre, un hijo que cuide de ella al llegar a su ancianidad. Pablo nos dice que todos los que hemos muerto al pecado viviremos con Cristo en "una vida nueva " (Romanos 6:4). Por último Jesús dice que "el que pierda la vida por mí, la conservara... y quien de un vaso de agua fresca a uno de estos pequeños, no se quedara sin recompensa" (Mateo 10: 39,42). Reflecting on God’s Word
The American labor force is working longer hours and producing faster than ever before. Some say that the strongest incentives are threats of job or benefit loss if production is not adequate. Others credit productivity to the attractive monetary reward built into the corporate system. Either way, most analysts agree that it is not a positive trend. People of every income bracket are sacrificing too much of their leisure and family time to make more room for work in their lives. This week all three scripture reading illustrate the reward system that God offers for those who make worthy sacrifices. Unlike the sacrifices of overwork, these sacrifices bring eternal rewards. The story of Elisha and the helpful woman exemplifies the reward of generosity. She acts not out of self-interest, but out of respect for God 'servant, the prophet Elisha. Her generosity is rewarded with new life in her womb, a son to care for her in her old age. Paul tells us that all who die to sin shall live with Christ "in newness of life" (Romans 6:4). Finally, Jesus says that "whoever loses his life for my sake will find it...and whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones" will be rewarded (Matthew 10: 39, 42).
