PARISH MEMBERSHIP

To receive Sacraments, you must be a REGISTERED PARISHIONER. Yellow census forms can be obtained by calling or emailing the Rectory. Please fill out and drop off as soon as possible so that you may participate more fully in the life of the parish. If you move, or change your number, please call or email the Rectory so our records can be kept current. If you are over 18, please register to get your own envelopes sent to you.

SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY As soon as you become engaged, call the parish to begin the marriage preparation process. You will arrange a time to meet with Fr. Rich. You will not be able to establish a wedding date on the parish calendar until this initial meeting takes place. The process of preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony within the Church takes at least six months so we encourage you to begin this process as soon as you become engaged.

SACRAMENT OF PENANCE At this time, Confession is by appointment only. Please call or email the Rectory for an appointment.

SACRAMENT TO THE HOMEBOUND First Friday of each month. Eucharistic Ministers do the same on the 2nd and 4th Sunday. The Sacrament of the Sick is available anytime upon request. Please call the Rectory for arrangements.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Baptisms take place Sundays after the 11AM Mass. Please call the rectory to schedule an interview. Parents and Godparents will need to attend one class before the child’s Baptism. An Information Form needs to be filled out by the parent and a Declaration Form filled out by the Godparents. Godparents must be at least 16 years of age, need to be a registered parishioner or will need a letter of good standing from his/her current Parish. Anyone requesting a Baptism must be registered in the Church (fill out our Census form), turn in envelopes and must be actively attending Church for at least (3) months. Note: A $50.00 contribution is requested on or before the day of Baptism.

DAILY AND WEEKLY MEMORIALS The Sanctuary Lamp, which burns before the Blessed Sacrament, reminds us of the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. It would be a wonderful way to memorialize a loved one who now enjoys the heavenly banquet. If you would like the lamp to burn in honor of a loved one, please send a suggested offering of $10 to the Rectory with the name of the person remembered. We publish this memorial weekly in the bulletin. Mass intentions are $10 each. The Rectory can be called or emailed, there is no need to stop in. You can mail in your check or drop into the offering box. Those whose names are enrolled in the Memorial Fund will be included in (12) special Masses per year (as well as others). Suggested offering is $25. Stop by the office for a beautiful hardcover bound booklet that can be presented. PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

HELP OLHC CONTINUE Gifts provided through wills and personal trusts can make such a difference in the continued operation of our Church. These gifts enable a donor to make contributions that may not have been possible during their lifetime. If you value the mission of OLHC and want to see us continue, please consider this. Thank you!

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY

Today is Priesthood Sunday. Priesthood Sunday seeks to reaffirm the priesthood of Jesus Christ and its central place in the life of the Church. This day also specifically

honors priests, without whom the Holy Sacraments could not be conferred, for a single day out of the 365

days of the year during which they tirelessly serve their parishes. Please join us in praying for our priests:

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in

the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their

souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire

them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns

as our Eternal Priest. Amen.~ from the USCC

ALL SAINTS DAY COLLECTION: In addition to our vigil and holy day of obligation masses, envelopes for All Saints Day and All Souls Day will be collected at all weekend masses next week. Intentions may be written on the back of the envelope and put, with or without a contribution, in the offertory box. All intentions from the All Saints Day envelopes will be placed on the altar and remembered at Mass during the month of November.

Reading I: Exodus 22: 20-26 A self-styled “compassionate” God included in the Code of the Covenant with His people the kind of laws we read about here. Aliens from other lands living with the Israelites are linked with widows as people needing protection. To charge interest on a loan meant to alleviate distress is forbidden.

Reading II: I Thessalonians 1: 5c-10 Paul stresses to his recent converts that his lifestyle was a witness to the truth of his message. He urges them to keep trying to be imitators of the risen Lord, who gave of Himself totally for our salvation.

The Gospel: Matthew 22: 34-40 Jesus presents to the questioning Pharisees what we call “the Great Commandment” in His capacity as an authoritative Lord. “Love” here is not a feeling but of fidelity, of willing and doing. Jesus is the first teacher to link the two commands, and in so doing He advances morality.

GOD BLESS YOU ON YOUR BIRTHDAY! 10/26 Mary Shankweiler, Bryan Guzley 10/27 Marion Royer 10/28 Rosanne Venditto, Patrice Toth 10/29 Andrew Robb, Giral Abreau 10/30 Lydia Corby

National Vocation Awareness Week

As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life. Some remain as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations—and teaching young people how to discern God’s call—is a serious duty, but also a joyful one. Next week begins National Vocation Awareness Week (November 1 – 7, 2020).

During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage the young people in your life — children, grandchildren, students, and friends — to be open if God calls them to priesthood or consecrated life. The Beatification Mass for Father McGivney will be held at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford, CT on Saturday, 10/31/20. Father McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882 with the principles of Charity, United, Fraternity and Patriotism and now, with 2 million members strong, serve your local parish and communities around the world. Please join in this historic event as we continue praying for Father McGivney’s canonization. For more information, please go to KofC.org.

ENTRANCE – WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Blessed are they who are poor in spirit, theirs is the Kingdom of God. Bless us, O Lord, make us poor in spirit; bless us, O Lord, our God. We are the light of the world, may our light shine before

all, That they may see the good that we do, and give glory to God. Blessed are they who are meek and humble, they will inherit the earth. Bless us, O Lord, make us meek and humble; bless us, O Lord, our God. We are the light of the world, may our light shine

before all, That they may see the good that we do, and give glory to God.

OFFERTORY – WHEN WE ARE LIVING When we are living, it is in Christ Jesus, and when we're dying, it is in the Lord.

Both in our living and in our dying, we belong to God, we belong to God.

Pues si vivimos, para el vivimos, y si morimos para el morimos. Sea que vivamos o que muramos, somos del Senor, somos del Senor.

Through all our living, we our fruits must give. Good works of service are for offering.

When we are giving, or when receiving, we belong to God, we belong to God.

COMMUNION – YOU ARE A GIFT You are a gift to me...welcome to my heart. I have missed you so while we've been apart. You

are my salvation. Your absence made me feel How my life was empty. Your presence is so real.

Refrain: Jesus, thank you for being my Lord, for being my Savior, for being my friend.

Thanks for your constant love, the blessings You send. My heart is full now. I receive You, Lord, My Savior, my friend.

RECESSIONAL – HAIL, HOLY QUEEN ENTHRONED ABOVE Hail, holy Queen enthroned above, O Maria. Hail, Queen of mercy and of love, O Maria.

Triumph, all ye cherubim; Sing with us, ye seraphim. Heav'n and earth resound the hymn: Salve, salve, salve Regina!

The cause of joy to us below, O Maria.

The spring through which all graces flow, O Maria. Angels, all your praises bring; Earth and heaven, with us sing;

All creation echoing: Salve, salve, salve, Regina!
