A major effort of the participants was todetermine 2-3 priorities, and strategies foreach priority that we would focus on as we prepare for the General Chapter of 2014. These priorities will be

communicated in the near future once thefinal draft of the conclusions of thismeeting are completed and translated.

International gatherings such as this arealways a profound gift and gracesabound. We felt very supported by the

prayers of the Cabrini Family and we, forour part, were constantly praying for theneeds of the Institute. The meeting is

over, but now the work continues! There will be continued communication on how we will put inaction the various priorities and strategies that were defined during this meeting.

Collaboration and meaningful dialogue marked thegathering many plans and Institute priorities forformation were brought forth during the time in Rieti.

One added excitement of the meeting was thatcelebrated with Sr. JoanMcGlinchey, MSC the 50th anniversary of her life as aMissionary Sister of theSacred Heart of Jesus.Given the theme of formation, it seemed aperfect conclusion to our

Baguio City, PhilippinesMedical-Dental Mission for SOSCFI Families

As part of SOSCFIs mission in providing health services for low income families, a Medical-DentalMission, in partnership with Pines City Doctors Hospital and Education Center, was conducted onMarch 3, 2012 at the Pines City Colleges. A total of 71 Save Our School Children Foundation Inc.families (SOSCFI) benefited from this activity with 100 children and 49 adults being seen.

Among the common treatments provided were head to toe assessmentfor children; scoliosis assessment; dental prophylaxis and extraction;and medical check-ups, which also included free medicine and vitamins.

The Pines City Education Center Colleges (of Nursing, Midwifery,Dentistry, and Physical Therapy) collaborated as a unit, and their

students were very active during the entire mission. All of the studentstook part in getting the baseline data of the patients, such as checking blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse rate, and other relevant information.

This mission was of great benefit to the families of SOSCFI, and we look forward to futurepartnerships with neighboring organizations to continue providing our families with not only curesfor illnesses, but also tools for preventive measures.

Session in Bloom and SOSCFI

From February 26 to March 4, Save Our School ChildrenFoundation, Inc. (SOSCFI) was able to promote and sellits livelihood products, as well as other goods from localNGOs, and other communities led by entrepreneurial women. During the entire month of February, butespecially in this last week, every year, tourists from allover the Philippines come to Baguio to experience thePanagbenga Festival or the Flower Festival. During

this week, Session Road, the main town road in Baguio City is closed off to all vehicles, and it ispacked with vendors and restaurants, all trying their best to entice visitors to buy their products andalso taste their food! With that being said, it is known that this is a key week in the year for local vendors to have their products reach a greater audience in the marketplace.

Among the products made by SOSCFI parents are candles, wooden handicrafts, peanut butter, strawberry jam, woven bags and wallets, and from other groups, beaded accessories and purses wereamong the items. From the Yagyagan community, the women in that area made bags constructed with colored plastic straws, which would be especially useful when going to the market! With BaguioCity being steadfast in eventually eliminating the use of plastic bags, these plastic straw bags provedto be a great alternative.

This was a great opportunity for SOSCFI to spreadits name among locals and tourists, and we look forward to future programs and opportunities where our livelihood products may reach areas nearand far. Mabuhay!

CMC Study in Partnership with the LaSalle NonProfit Center

CMC Missioner Crystal Catalan (2nd r.) CabriniCompanion Lynie Abar (3rd r.) and Cabrini LayMissionary Jewel Rivera (c.) help out at theSOSCFI booth.

The LaSalle NonProfit Center in Philadelphia was recently engaged to conduct a study of CabriniMission Corps (CMC), which will begin in the next few weeks. We are confident given that CMChas entered its 20th year, that its a perfect time to take a step back, look at the value the CMCprogram has brought and continues to bring to the mission and CMC constituents (MSCs, ministry sites, missioners, advisory board members, etc.) and to gather information that will help make thebest decisions for the future. As such, please be advised that in the coming weeks, you may receivea survey requesting feedback on your experience of the program. We would be grateful to you fortaking the time to thoughtfully and prayerfully respond to the survey.

If you have any questions, you can direct them to Gina Scarpello, CMC Director at:  [email protected]

Thank you for your help with this and your prayers for the study!

Each week during the Lenten Season we will be bringing you reflections written by the Missionary Sisters so that we may  journey together in prayer.

For the fourth Sunday in Lent, our reflection is offered by Sr. Bernadette Anello, MSC

ReflectionfortheFourthSundayof Lent March18,2012 Throughout this Lenten season, Gods compassion  is a focal point for my reflections. It has beena constant theme that comes in prayers, songs, readings, and experiences. Each encounterunderscores Gods great love, Gods passionate love. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me(Psalm 139); it invites me to more love than I could possibly imagine!

God so loved the worldyou and me and all of us, wherever we are

that He gave His only Son,.not material things, but the very One Whom He loved: Jesus, Who became human and showed us how to love that whoever believes in Hima call to deep faith, to follow Him in discipleship, to trust in His Word may not die but may have eternal life.Gods promise and pledge to each of us.

The above quote (Jn 3:16) taken from todays Gospel, is often repeated and familiar to many of us.Our God not only loves us, but actually lavishes us with love. Each time we bless ourselves with thesign of the Cross or pray the Stations of the Cross, or meditate on the Crucifix, we are reminded of

Love poured out for us.Our Lenten journey draws us closer to Holy Week. We walk the road to Jerusalem with Jesus and, atthe same time, Jesus walks with us on the road of our daily lives. Along the way, may Gods love andcompassion fill our hearts and transform us.
