If the original is a photo-graphic print, black spots may appear on the copy.
High humidity causes prints to stick to the expo-sure glass.
Set the print in one of the following ways:
• With an OHP transparency placed between the sheet and the exposure glass.
• Placed on the exposure glass, under two or three sheets of white paper. Do not close the ADF.

• Paper thicker than 105 g/m2, 28 lb.• Paper thinner than 64 g/m2, 17 lb.• Translucent paper• OHP transparencies• Label paper (adhesive labels)
• When an odd number of originals is placed in the ADF, the back of the lastpage of copied paper is blank.
• During copying, the image is shifted to allow for the binding margin.• The following paper sizes can be duplexed: A3L, B4 JISL, A4KL, B5
JISKL, A5KL, 11" × 17"L, 81/2" × 14"L, 81/2" × 13"L, 81/2" × 11"KL,81/4" × 13"L, 8" × 13"L, 71/4" × 101/2"L 51/2" × 81/2"L, 16KKL, 8KL
❖❖❖❖ Combine• You cannot use the bypass tray with this function.• In this mode, the machine selects the reproduction ratio automatically.
This reproduction ratio depends on copy paper sizes and the number oforiginals.
• The reproduction ratios you can specify are 25–400%.• If the calculated ratio is under the minimum ratio, it will be automatically
adjusted to within acceptable range. However, with some ratios, parts ofthe image might not be copied.
• You cannot use custom size paper.• A separation line between originals can be printed with the User Tools. ⇒
p.115 “Separation Line in Combine”• If the orientation of originals is different from that of the copy paper, the
machine will automatically rotate the image by 90° to make copies proper-ly.
• If the number of originals placed is less than the number specified for com-bining, the last page segment will be left blank as shown.

❖❖❖❖ Series Copies• The machine sets the reproduction ratio automatically to meet the paper
size and copies the originals together onto the paper.• The reproduction ratios you can specify are 25–400%.• If the calculated ratio is under the minimum ratio, it is automatically ad-

• If the orientation of originals is different from that of the copy paper, themachine will automatically rotate the image by 90° to make copies proper-ly.
• You cannot copy with originals different in size and orientation.• If the number of originals scanned is less than a multiple of 4, the last page
is copied blank.• In Magazine or Booklet mode, the copying may take some time after scan-
ning originals.• When the 1000-Sheet finisher is installed, if you select Saddle Stitch func-
tion in Magazine or Booklet mode, the machine staples and folds the paperin the centre, then delivers the paper folded.
❖❖❖❖ Image RepeatDepending on the paper size, ratio, and orientation, parts of repeated imagesmay not be copied.
❖❖❖❖ CentringThough the original is set to a different orientation from the paper loaded, themachine will not rotate the image by 90° (Rotate copy).
❖❖❖❖ EraseThe width of the erased margin varies depending on the reproduction ratio. If the size of the original is different from sizes listed in the following chart, the erased margin might be shifted:• Metric version
