Stewards citizen science water quality monitoring pro-gram, and co-leads Idaho Project WET (Water Education for Teachers). He has worked with the University of Idaho since Fall 2007. Ekins earned a bachelor's in Natural Resource Management from Western Carolina U., and a master’s in Natural Resource Planning from U. Oregon. He was a ranger in three National Parks, worked in Colorado and Oregon’s resort industry, spent two Austral summers on a research base in Antarctica, and worked in wetland restoration for watershed councils in Oregon and Idaho. Before transferring to the U-Idaho Extension Faculty, Ekins directed U-Idaho’s Service-Learning and Internships program. In his spare time, he is pursuing a PhD in Conservation Social Sciences in social-systems resilience; he also canoes, tele-skis, runs, and backpacks with his dogs, and will play a round of golf from time to time.

Larry Gilhuly, Director, USGA Green Section, Northwest Region, will complete his 36th and last year with the USGA Green Section in 2019. An Evans Scholar graduate of Washington State University in 1975 he spent time as the assistant superintendent with a brief stint as the superintendent at Seattle Golf Club until 1983 when he started his tenure with the USGA Green Section. In retire-ment, Gilhuly will be focusing on the topics of forward tees and resource management while playing a little more golf.

Clint Mattox graduated from Purdue University in Indiana with a turfgrass science degree in 2000, and has been working in the turfgrass industry since that time. From 2000 until 2012, Mattox worked overseas, primarily in Europe, where he was an assistant superintendent in Berlin, head greenkeeper at Paris Disneyland, and finally grow-in and maintenance superintendent at the Arnold Palmer designed Vignoly golf course near Paris. In 2013, he began graduate studies at Oregon State University focusing on managing turfgrass diseases in the absence of fungicides. Mattox finished a Master of Science degree in Horticulture in September 2015 and is currently working towards a doctorate at Oregon State University majoring in Horticulture with a minor in Botany and Plant Pathology.

Chris Carson has been the golf course superintendent at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, New Jersey, for over 30 years. During his tenure, a complete master plan rebuild of the course has been completed, two USGA Championships have been held and 11 assistants have moved on to become superintendents. Carson has served in leadership roles on many local and regional associa-tions, and has been president of GCSANJ, NJTA, the TriState Turf Research Foundation and more. Since 2001, Carson has been teaching budgeting & planning and pro-fessional development in the Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management Program. He is an accomplished writer, twice winning GCSAA's Leo Feser Award for best super-intendent-written article published in Golf Course Management. Carson is much in demand as a conference and seminar speaker for GIS and many regional and local superintendent associations.

James Patrick (Jim) Ekins is the Water Educator for U-Idaho Extension. He develops non-formal education programs based on the best available science to all parts of the community. Ekins runs the IDAH2O Master Water
