To date we have raised $282.00 for this most worthy Catholic Aid agency. A magnificent achievement from our school.  To be frank, our senior students are who we truly need to thank for their inspiration for these days. They did an excellent job in planning and implementing our “Purple cup cake day” and our “Celebration of Pentecost day”. We are extremely fortunate at St Peter’s to be able to provide these young leaders with opportunities to develop their leadership skills. We noted how our student leaders effectively and most responsibly promoted and co-ordinated these days. They worked with parents, staff and children to make these days run smoothly and efficiently.  These opportunities also allow all children to experience “reaching out” to others to make a positive difference in the world. St Peter’s Day  This year our St Peter’s day celebrations are to be held on Friday, J une 28. We will begin with a before school breakfast and activities throughout the day, culminating in a liturgy to round off the day. More details to follow… As we are not celebrating mass on St Peter’s day we have decided that the younger children will lead a school mass on the following Sunday, (You will all be aware that due to space constraints we have not held a school mass on a Sunday in the parish centre for some time. However, we have decided another way of celebrating mass and tackling the space issue, would be to have our children attend mass in junior and senior groupings).  Therefore our younger children from rooms 1, 2 and 5 will lead a school mass celebrating the life of St Peter on Sunday 30 J une at 10.30 am, for the feast of Saint Peter and Paul.  This will be followed by another mass with the remainder of the school, rooms 3, 4, 6, and 7 later in the year. *******  Also a small departure from what has been required in the past. All children are asked to wear school uniform. God Bless Sandra Shamy Our website is an ever-growing resource for you with information and news about our school. The calendar with school events is listed here. www.saintpeters.school.nz Keep looking for updated details of all school events I have been most impressed, yet again, with our senior students displaying care and consideration for others. It is wonderful to see them taking the lead in organisation and in giving to others, both within the school and in the parish community. The same can be said too for our fabulous competitors in the recent zone cross country event. The spirit of God is alive in them! School photos: A reminder that these will be taken on Thursday, 13 J une. Please return your envelope with the correct money now. Envelopes for orders for sibling photographs are available in the office. Please ensure that your child wears the full and correct uniform, including shoes. Principal’s Awards: Congratulations to these students on producing such wonderful work and sharing it with me: Alex Mair, Grace O’Neill, Ngakau Knap, Emma Gormley,  Tess Heap, Sophie Rhind, Tamara Marcijasz, Ella McHerron.

Safety in the playground:

Winter has certainly arrived,

marking its presence with an earlyburst of snow in recent days. Atimely reminder then to ensure thatyour child comes to school with a jacket or coat to stay warm when outside of theclassroom. Some have been looking decidedlychilly when arriving at school! Also during these icy months, the entrance fromBeckenham Street will need to be closed whenthe footpath alongside the playground is unsafedue to ice. This has happened one day this term

so far. Please bear with us when this happensand be assured that we do try to keep thepathways as clear as possible.

Sports Uniform FridaysPostie plus have long navy teslon tracksuit

pants, lined in warm cotton available forapprox. $39.99.

The Frontrunner Store at ‘The Colombo”also have navy trackpants in all sizes andfor every pair they sell to St Peters Schoolfamilies they will donate $5 back to the school.

These trackpants may be worn on top of shorts aswinter gets colder as part of the sports uniform.

Wonderful Church Ladies With Typewriters.

They're Back! Those wonderful Church Bulletins! This sentence actually appeared in a church bulletinor announced in church service:

The sermon this morning: 'J esus Walks on theWater.' The sermon tonight: 'Searching for J esus.'

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chanceto get rid of those things not worth keeping aroundthe house. Bring your husbands.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of ourcommunity. Smile at someone who is hard to love.

Say 'Hell' to someone who doesn't care much aboutyou.Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.
