Championship Format/Schedule » 36 holes of stroke play, with the first round slated for Wednesday, Sept. 3
and the second round set for Thursday, Sept. 4. If there is a tie after 36
holes, a sudden-death playoff will be utilized to determine a champion.
» Championships will be awarded in each of three age divisions: 65 and
over; 70 and over; and 75 and over. Players who are eligible for multiple
divisions may choose the division in which they want to compete. For exam-
ple, a player who is 70 may register for the 70-and-over division or the 65-
and-over division, but not both.
» Player rankings points will only be awarded to the 65-and-over division.

will be updated throughout the day, and a full recap can be found at the

Founded in 1916, Danville Golf Club features an 18-hole championship
course designed by renowned architect Donald Ross. The
par-70 layout plays at 6,235 yards from the tips and features
Bermudagrass tees and fairways and bentgrass greens. Dan-
ville has hosted numerous VSGA championships, including
Amateurs and State Opens. It hosted the Mid-Atlantic Junior
Girls’ Challenge Matches earlier this summer.

» There are several super senior “rookies” to watch at Danville, including 13-time
VSGA champion David Partridge (Hermitage CC), past VSGA Four-Ball champion
Jack Allara (Hidden Valley CC) and reigning Super Senior Four-Ball champion Jim
Woodson (Mill Quarter Plantation), who just turned 66 but was not yet 65 when
the event was held last year.
» Roday is the only past champion in the field at Danville.
» Another player to watch is Tim Vigotsky (Robert Trent Jones GC), who won the 65
and over title at last year’s VSGA Super Senior Amateur.
» Three members at Danville Golf Club are in the field: Barry Shea, Harry Lea,
Wright Garrett and Doug Kendrick. Shea and Lea are both past presidents of the
VSGA’s Board of Directors.
