Materials Needed
36 Charm Squares
¾ yard of white fabric for background and borders
½ yard of gray fabric for borders and binding
1 ¼ yard of backing fabric
Quilt batting 46 inches wide x 46 inches long
Cutting Instructions
Borders 1 and Border 3
White fabric: Cut 8 strips that are 2 ½ inches wide x the width of fabric (WOF).
Assume WOF = 42 inches.
Border 2
White fabric: Cut 2 strips that are 1 ½ inches wide x the width of fabric (WOF).
Sub cut both strips into 2 ¾ inch rectangles. You will need 28 white rectangles.
Gray fabric: Cut 2 strips that are 1 ½ inches wide x the width of fabric (WOF).
Sub cut both strips into 2 ¾ inch rectangles. You will need 28 gray rectangles.
Binding
Gray fabric: Cut 4 strips that are 2 ¼ inches x the width of fabric (WOF).

Sewing Instructions:
Step 1: Sew six charm squares together in
a row. Make 6 rows with six charm squares
in each row, pressing seams according to
the diagram at the right.
Step 2: Sew all 6 rows together and the
press seams up or down, you get to choose!
Border 1
Step 3: Sew a 2½ inch white strip to the left
side of your quilt and a 2½ inch strip to the
right side of your quilt. Using your ruler or
straight edge, cut off the excess white fabric.
Press seams toward the white fabric.
Step 4: Sew a 2½ inch white strip to the top
of your quilt and a 2½ inch strip to the bottom
of your quilt. Using your ruler or straight
edge, cut off the excess white fabric. Press
seam toward the white fabric.
Border 2
Step 5: Alternate sewing seven 1½ inch x 2 ¾ inch gray rectangles together with seven 1 ½ inch x 2 ¾ inch white
rectangles, being careful to note the order of colors shown below. Press seams toward the gray rectangles. Make
a total of 4 strips.
Note: All seam allowances = 1/4 inch

Step 6: Sew the strips created in Step 5 to
the quilt top in the order shown at right.
Note the placement of the white and gray
squares on each side. Press seams toward the
white fabric.
Border 3
Step 7: Referring to the diagram on the right, sew
a 2 ½ inch border strip to the left side of your quilt
and a 2 ½ inch border strip to the right side of your
quilt as shown. Using your ruler or straight edge,
cut off the excess white fabric. Press seams toward
the white fabric.
Step 8: Referring to the diagram on the right, sew a
2½ inch strip to the top of your quilt and a 2½ inch
strip to the bottom of your quilt as shown. Using your
ruler or straight edge, cut off the excess white fabric.
Press seams toward the top and bottom white fabrics.
Step 9: Layer the backing fabric, batting and quilt top and quilt using your favorite technique(s). Trim off excess
batting and backing fabric.
Step 10: Piece the 2¼ inch binding strips together and attach to the quilt using your favorite binding technique.
