    Jerusalem? 1939 5 pp Typescript fullscap 33cm Bernard Joseph immigrated to Palestine in 1918. He was a member of the Jewish Agency and became the Military Governor of Jerusalem in the 1948 war. Sir Charles Tegart was a colonial policeman, first in India and then in Palestine. The discussion relates to the building of some new Jewish Settlements, and additionally there is some discussion of Partition, and how to bring the Jews and Arabs closer together. [ref: 18301] £180

    Oblong folio, conservation case-bound using fully acid free materials.

    The decorative color wrapper at the front has been inset to prevent any damage. Published under the auspices of the Central Committee of the Liberated Jews in the British Zone. The text is in English, Yiddish, Hebrew and German and each language has its own title page. Printed on card. Contains 115 photographs showing the Nazi attacks on the Jews. Each page contains 3 or 4 pictures. The introduction of the book poignantly describes its purpose: "The incentive to produce this collection gave us our deepest desire to show the world the crimes of Germany, to give expression to the throttled cry of pain of the Jews. The desire to bring back our memories of Jewish Settlements which were drowned in torrents of Jewish Blood. May the world have this knowledge and ponder on it. When words are too weak and too poor to convey the destruction and extermination of Jewish life, may these pictures found by accident on arrested SS Soldiers, speak for themselves of the bestiality which will forever bring shame on humankind" Yiddish inscription on Yiddish title page [ref: 19129] £450

    Recent leather binding, 15cm, 306 leaves + (4 pp). An un-pointed edition, based on Leusden. Preliminary matter includes engraved title, Hebrew title, Latin title, preface (Amsterdam , 1 October 1701), and Hebrew verses; 6 ff. Text 293 ff; followed by notes and table. Darlow and Moule 5139 Vinograd 734. This edition that was favoured by those performing the Goral HaGra. This ritual, attributed to the Vilna Gaon (Rabbi Elijah ben Solomon Zalman), is conducted by randomly opening a bible and linking the verses on the page to the matter at hand. The purpose of the ceremony is to find answers to a question of great importance. If there is no hint in the verse, one skips to the next verse that begins with the last letter of the previous verse.
