    Network side

At the network side, the 7360 ISAM FX terminates FE, GE, or 10GE links. Following are possible configurations.

Connect to one or more Ethernet switches.Ethernet links can be connected to one or more Ethernet switches. These Ethernet switches forward the frames over the Ethernet-based aggregation access network until they reach the IP edge router or BRAS of the corresponding NSP. At the IP edge router or BRAS, the frames enter the IP backbone of the NSP.

Connect more than one FE/GE/10GE link (link aggregation). In case of more than one link, Ethernet link aggregation is used.

Connect directly to an IP edge router. The 7360 ISAM FX can be connected directly to the IP edge router or BRAS. The Ethernet aggregation network is reduced to one or more parallel Ethernet links.

    Connect to a MPLS network.

    LT cards

The 7360 ISAM FX LT cards provide an IWF, a transport subsystem, and an LT control subsystem.

The transport subsystem terminates the physical layer of the user interfaces. The transport subsystem varies with the type of access technology used, such as Ethernet.

The IWF processes the packets in the fast path. The IWF is capable of handling frames at L2 (basically bridging) and L3 (basically IP forwarding), including sophisticated filtering and traffic management, all at the line rate of the transport medium.

The LT control subsystem provides the slow path control plane and internal operations and maintenance applications.

    GPON LT cards

The GPON functionality of the 7360 ISAM FX extends the system boundaries up to 128 ONTs over fiber that can reach tens of kilometers from the GPON LT cards located in a 7360 ISAM FX shelf.

These GPON LT cards provide the physical interfaces from the 7360 ISAM FX shelf toward the CPE, or the ONTs.

    XG-PON1 LT cards

The XG-PON1 functionality of the 7360 ISAM FX provides higher speed data rates of 10G downstream and 2.5G updstream.

    NT cards

The shelf can accommodate two NT cards. These NT cards can act as an active/standby pair for all functions.

The FANT-F (480 Gbps) NT card is supported in 7360 ISAM FX equipment. This NT card with integrated IHub subsystem provides the following links on the front panel:

    1 x fixed 10/100/1000Base-T port.This port operates in 10 Mb/s, 100 Mb/s, or 1 GE mode.

4 x 10 GE SFP+ port:This port operates in 1 GE mode (with standard SFP optics) and in 10 GE mode (with SFP+ optics).

    GFC card

The GFC provides connections for external power, circuit breakers for system protection, visual indications for power availability, and collection and cascading of external alarms.

    NTIO card

The 7360 ISAM FX NTIO card plays the role of an applique to a single NT card, or to both NT cards, dependant on the NT redundancy configuration. The NTIO card can decouple NT equipment protection from up-link protection in case of a redundant NT pair. If the active NT fails, traffic on the NTIO external links will be switched automatically to and from the standby NT.

    Port mapping

The following tables list the port mapping for the 7360 ISAM FX system, that is, the mapping between the logical port numbers as used in the system and the physical port numbers as visible on the equipment (front panel numbering). Table 1-5 lists the mapped items in a 7360 ISAM FX system. Table 1-6 lists the port mapping for the FANT-F card in a 7360 ISAM FX-16

    IHub

The IHub provides L2 bridging (based on VPLS) and IP routing (based on VPRN). The IHub has at least 28 ports with various specializations.

A number of ports are used to make a connection at 1 Gb/s or at 2.5 Gb/s or at 10 Gb/s to an LT local in the shelf (one IHub link per LT). The connection speed depends on the LT capabilities; see Table 1-4.

The FE/GE ports, which are not used for connecting LT cards (local or remote), and the 10GE ports, are available as network interfaces, interfaces to subtended DSLAM systems, or for connecting directly to users. These links serve network links, subtending links, or user links respectively.

Use of these ports is possible through:

link interfaces that are physically located on an NTIO card, connected via bidirectional P2P high-speed connections on the backplane to both NT cardsThese interfaces can also be used as electrical FE or GE interfaces, or optical GE, or 10GE interfaces, for uplink, subtending, or user links. The NTIO card contains an NT equipment protection switch per external link interface.Link protection and NT equipment protection can be performed independently from each other for links terminated on the NTIO.

link interfaces that are physically located on the NT card, as electrical FE or GE interfaces, or optical GE or 10 GE interfaces, for uplink, subtending, or user links.

The remote craft terminal (CT) uses TL1 commands or command line interface (CLI) commands. TL1 is used for pre-provisioning of the NT cards. CLI is used to manage both the xHub subsystem and the IACM.

Figure 1-10 shows the management topology for the 7360 ISAM FX.

Figure 1-10 7360 ISAM FX management topology

The NT controller and the xHub subsystem each contain a separate SNMP agent. These can be managed using an element management station (EMS), such as the Alcatel-Lucent 5520 AMS.

It is also possible to use a local TL1 or CLI craft terminal on the NT card to manage the LT cards.

An integrated CLI approach is implemented on the NT card using a CLI agent. This agent implements CLI commands for the NT controller / LIMs and the xHub subsystem. However, there is no semantic integration.

    1.5 Equipment management

This section describes the 7360 ISAM FX general equipment practice including CO equipment management, SyncE support, IWF capabilities, Ethernet frame size, dimensioning information, and OLT service and system capacity.

The NE equipment practice type does not have to be explicitly planned by the operator, but is auto-planned by the NT at startup, depending on the detected type. At the same time, the NT will auto-plan the maximum number of racks supported by this equipment practice. The following 7360 ISAM FX type is defined:

LNWW: large new equipment practice worldwide market (6 racks, 4 shelves per rack)

Shelves are automatically planned upon detection. The operator can control the administrative state of a shelf (lock/unlock).The NE manages different types of cards. A complete overview of all supported card types in each type of shelf is in the chapter 2 Shelves. Card planning is supported for all types of cards, including the appliques. For LSMs, the operator can control the administrative state (lock/unlock).

CO equipment managementCO equipment only supports configurations consisting of a single rack and shelf.

ONT managementFor more information about the ONT management, see System Description for FD 100/320Gbps NT and FX NT.

    Type Description

    Note 1 External OAM VLAN:

The IHub subsystem supports in-band management. This happens through a dedicated VLAN, which must be configured (if different than 4093) on both the IHub subsystem as on the NT.Note 2 VLAN 4094 is reserved for internal communication and cannot be used in any Ethernet network in which the 7360 ISAM FX system is deployed.

    ISAM OLT performance and distance

The P-OLT provides performance and distance capacity of 2.488 Gb/s downstream and 1.244 Gb/s upstream, within a 30 km (18.6 mi) span, for all NGLT cards. The optical link budget is defined by both loss and bandwidth characteristics. The loss characteristic is determined by the difference between the optical transmitter and optical receiver for each direction, and is typically 28 dB. The bandwidth characteristic is determined by the maximum link distance parameter of each OLT and ONT transmitter specification, and is limited by the smaller of the upstream and downstream values.

    ISAM OLT connection capacities

The ISAM OLT can accommodate a maximum of 16 LT cards. The number of ports depends on the LT card used. Table 1-16 describes the total number of ports per LT card.

Table 1-16 Total number of ports per LT card

    1.7 NT redundancy support

Four levels of redundancy are supported:

link redundancy equipment redundancy subscriber line redundancy application redundancy

NT redundancy implements link redundancy and equipment redundancy in a decoupled architecture, which results in the following redundancy cases:

only link protection:single NT, active-standby, or load-sharing uplinks

combined NT and link protection, no NTIO:dual active/standby NT, with direct uplink or link set

decoupled NT and link protection, single NTIO:dual active/standby NT, NTIO card with link switches

    2.1 Overview

This chapter provides information about the different 7360 ISAM FX shelves supported for ANSI.

    2.2 7360 ISAM FX shelves

This section provides general information about the 7360 ISAM FX shelf types, shelf configurations, NT redundancy, fan unit, baffles, and drip tray.

The modular organization of the 7360 ISAM FX system allows a wide range of physical size and traffic capacity options.

The basic building blocks of the 7360 ISAM FX system are the shelves. The 7360 ISAM FX system for R4.x is a one-shelf system. Daisy-chaining multiple shelves using extender cards is not supported.

Multiple collocated shelves can be cascaded using the standard FE, GE, and 10 GE subtending links. In such a configuration, each shelf operates and is managed as a separate system.

    Shelf types

Table 2-1 lists the 7360 ISAM FX shelves supported.
