Plant specimens were collected and photographed. Morphological descriptions and illustrations of ferns and palms were done. A total of 10 fern species were identified and classified in 6 families (Polypodiaceae, Schizaeaceae, Thelypteridaceae, Adiantaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Ophioglossaceae) and 8 genera. The majority of ferns were divided into two groups; epiphytes and terrestrials. Of all ferns species found, the Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) Price and Lygodium microphyllum (Cav.) R.Br. were of greatest abundance. Furthermore, 3 species in 3 genera of palm were found. The species in greatest number was Licuala spp. Therefore, commercial rubber plantations can be used for conservation and propagation of some species of ferns and palms, thus resulting in a highly beneficial secondary use for the land. Abstract

A survey of diversity of ferns and palms in southern Thailand was conducted in ten commercial rubber plantations from November 2007 to May 2008 in Songkhla and Phattalung provinces. Plant specimens were collected and photographed. Morphological descriptions and illustrations of ferns and palms were done. A total of 10 fern species were identified and classified in 6 families (Polypodiaceae, Schizaeaceae, Thelypteridaceae, Adiantaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Ophioglossaceae) and 8 genera. The majority of ferns were divided into two groups; epiphytes and terrestrials. Of all ferns species found, the Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) Price and Lygodium microphyllum (Cav.)
