    Power Chucks

  • This catalogue describes the key components

of a power chucking system featuring the

    following FORKARDT power chucks:

    QLC, QLK,

    QLC/QLK-KS (KING SIZE),

    QLC-LS (LONG STROKE) and

    QLC-AG (compensating clamping)

    Should you require further information

beyond the data contained in this catalogue,

please refer to the following FORKARDT

    publications; for example:

  • QLC, QLK, QLC/K-KS,QLC-LS and QLC-AG Power ChucksPower Chuck range with Wedge Hook, Lubr icat ion System and Centr i fugalForce Compensat ion

The new range of Power Chucks QLC, QLK,QLC/QLK-KS, QLC-LS and QLC-AG marks a consid-erable advance in chucking technology. (A feat sooften achieved by FORKARDT that it is becoming atradition!) The QLC family of chucks is an enviablecombination of proven mechanisms, innovativedesign, highest quality materials and advancedmanufacturing techniques. Needless to say, all deve-loped and produced in accordance with the require-ments of ISO 9001 - 2000.

QLC/QLK Power Chucks utilize the wedge hooksystem with a large through hole bore. Centrifugalforce compensation is also provided together with anintegrated lubricant reserve. QLC/QLK Power Chucks

are universal chucks which can beused in practically all turning

    applications.

Technical features:• Best possible clamping forces obtained through

patented multiple jaw guides• Backlash free wedge hook mechanism for maxi-

mum clamping forces and highest repeatability

    • Base jaw profile providing exceptionally longsupport for greater stability and precision duringinternal and external clamping

    • Nitrided chuck body for longservice life

    • Improved sealing of protectivesleeve

    • Minimal loss of lubricating greasethrough undercuts

    • Integrated lubricant reservoirwith improved circulation

    • QLC variants have centrifugalforce compensation for highgripping forces at high speeds, accuracy, reliabilityand safety

    • Carefully selected matching materials – all loaded, sliding surfaces are hardened and ground

    • Simplified construction of the guiding pistonin the chuck, with no back protrusion of the pistonconnection when on clamping

    • Axial Stroke limitation is integrated into the designof the chucks thus ensuring any over stroke of thecylinder is not problematic

    • Optional quick change jaws

Advantages at a glance: • 30 – 40% lighter that comparable chucks• Reduced machine wear• Long maintenance intervals, high productivity• KING SIZE variants have 40% greater through hole

than comparable chucks• LONG STROKE chucks are capable of clamping

workpieces with great variances in diameter due to95% more clamping stroke

    • Sensitive, free of gripping deformation of thinwalled parts

    • Long, reliable and accurate service life• 5 years warranty - optionally available

  • VCQuick change Jaw system VCThe quick change jaw system VC is as simple inhandling as effective in reduction of the set-up time.In spite of the same repeatability and less spacerequirement - compared to general mounting systems- very high clamping forces are permitted as well. Therefore, this quick change jaw system inconnection with a high-quality chuck represents aneconomic problem solution to improve productivity.

Advantages at a glance: • Jaw change within seconds• For I.D. and O.D. clamping• Jaw change system easily to be realised

    automatically• Best repeatability

  • KBN Roughing JawsFor heavy roughing cuts on overhanging work pieces, roughing jaws with interchangeable claw inserts areavailable. These claw inserts ensure particularly reliable andconsistent grip, even on small gripping surfaces, but

can also cause indentations on work pieces whichmay have to be removed in a second turning opera-tion.
