Hi, and welcome to the 3rd Annual Foundations Fullblood Maine Anjou sale catalogue! We are excited that you have opened up our catalogue and we are even more excited at what we have to offer in these pages and in our sale. We’ve decided to take a bit of a different approach to selling our bulls by offering an online silent auction through VJV Auction. This will allow you to take a little extra time to make your decision and be satisfied with your purchase. It will also allow you to bid regardless of distance and other obligations. We have a selection of different bloodlines and animal styles to suit different producers needs and interests. At the time of the sale most of these bulls will have performance data from our bull test to help you make a well informed decision.

Welcome to the 3nd Annual

FoundationSFullblood Maine Anjou Sale

Meet the CrewIf you have never met Bob or Reg or Craig (and our lovely ladies), let us introduce you to the

breeding team that bring you this package of quality, fullblood Maine Anjou animals.

Craig and Miriam Cameron of CWC Cattle Co farm west of Millet along with Craig’s brother Ryan and Craig’s mother Linda. They keep busy in the areas of grain production, a feedlot, commercial herd, a bull test and of course quality fullblood and purebred Maine Anjou. Their program is focused on bringing the best genetics to their buyers through the use of the best bulls in the business on great maternal cows. They AI many of their cows and have also imported some semen from France to further diversify the gene pool. Craig got started in the business when he saw Maine Anjou cross cattle outperforming everything else in the feedlot. He then purchased his first registered animals from Gary and Sandy Graham and went on to obtain cattle from Bob and Janice Stenberg on shares. This year they also recieved some cattle from Reg and Jean Renton on shares to continue to grow their herd. These great connections with great Maine Anjou breeders has given them a great start in the business and for that they are very appreciative. Craig and Miriam hope to continue to build excel-lent Maine Anjou cattle as well as improve their bull test to help others develop their cattle as well. Craig’s cell #: 780.387.6037 www.cwccattle.com

Reg and Jean Renton of Wildberry Hills Maine Anjou farm east of Thorsby. Their passion is for the Fullblood Maine-Anjou and they fully support the Canadian Maine Anjou Association’s efforts to use DNA to maintain the purity of the fullblood genetics. The first fullblood that Reg saw was a cow at the late Bruce Barkley Ranch in 1976 and that was the beginning. They ran a commercial/ percentage Maine herd bred to Fullblood bulls from 1976-1985 but dived head first into the Fullbloods in 1992, buying cows from dispersals such as Ex-Vee farms, PK Ranches, Lees dispersal and TwinValleys polled line. With purchases from Alberta to Ontario they have a large variety of pedigrees and a variety of cows and heifers to calve out this spring. They still have a small commercial herd made up of simmental/angus and black angus/maines, “Yes, Reg has some blacks!!”. He’s just trying to find out what all the hurrah is about. Visitors are always welcome and they are proud to show off their cattle!! Reg’s cell #: 780.818.9146 house #: 780.789.3770

Bob and Janice Stenberg of Stenberg Maine Anjou farm north of Alder Flats. They have raised and shown Maine-Anjou cattle since the early 70’s, starting with 1/2 bloods and working up to include fullbloods. A feature of the Maine Anjou breed that they really appreciate is their docility, which makes it so easy for just two peo-ple to handle a herd. It also allows their cattle to perform better in the feedlot due to their quiet temperment, as proven by studies. They are happy to be working with Craig and Miriam who are carrying on the fullblood genetics.Bob’s cell #: 780.514.4518 house #: 780.388.2182

Mark Dickson from California bought some cows from Bob and Janice and has left them in the Stenberg’s capa-ble hands. He works in a human genetics lab but likes to dable in cattle genetics as well. He has special interest in these cow lines from a genetics perspective. It is paying off with lots 2 and 3 both resulting from his genetic pairings.Cell # 408.505.1622

Please read all the sale terms and conditons on page 15.

And don’t forget about our Junior Maine Anjou Association Fundraiser!

This bull is one of the most conformationally correct bulls in the pen this year. He is thick and deep with nice smooth muscling. His sire, Manitou’s Buret, won Grand Champion Yearling Bull and Supreme Champion Maine Anjou Bull in two of his visits to Farmfair Interna-tional in Edmonton.

Our featured bull for the 2015 sale earned lot #1 status by his accom-plishment at the Cattleland Maine Anjou bull test where he placed in the top half of the bulls for efficiency and did well for growth. He is a long and well muscled bull. His Dam goes back to Mariehamn Taipon and Siewert’s Mr Etula two well respected bulls that have left their mark on both Stenberg’s and Renton’s herds.

The first solid red fullblood bull that we have gotten out of our herd sire Mel’s Benz 110X. He is very consistent with his brothers and sisters out of Benz in that he has great thickness, length and depth of body put together in a very eye appealing package. EPDs: Unfortunatley, the EPD results were delayed and we appologize for any incovience caused. The EPDs will be posted early Saturday morning April 4!

Semen Testing Results:Some of the bulls require retesting due to their young age. Our vet says this is common in young bulls and he expects very good results for the retest in beginning of May. Again, all sale bulls will be sold with a breeding guarantee. Any bulls that do not prove themselves in the 2015 breeding season and were not neglected by the buyer can be returned and replaced with a warranty bull or given credit toward next years sale. Lot 3, 4, and 9 failed their semen test due to insufficient scrotal size.
