The Gina Maria Barnes Warriors Foundation was established in 2014. Gina was a resident of Carroll County, wife, and mother of three, who was highly involved and well respected in her community. Gina was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012 and after a courageous battle in which she demonstrated faith, grace, and poise, she was called to God’s arms in November 2013. Throughout her battle, the outpouring of community support for her and her family was overwhelming. In gratitude for this support and to continue Gina’s legacy, the Gina Maria Barnes Warriors Foundation was established.
We are preparing for the third annual Gina Maria Barnes Warriors Foundation Golf Tournament. This year the tournament will be held at The Links at Gettysburg on June 28, 2019, at 1:00 PM
Although our tournament is limited to the number of golfers, our need for sponsors and supporters is not. The Gina Maria Barnes Warriors Foundation was established to keep the memory and legacy of Gina Maria Barnes alive through charitable giving in the community. Each year the Gina Maria Barnes Warriors Foundation, a Fund of the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Inc., provides charitable support to our community through college scholarships to Carroll County high school students and The Comfort Fund, which provides resources to individuals undergoing colon cancer treatment. Each year the foundation awards two $1,000 college scholarships to graduating Carroll County seniors. The Comfort Fund, established to perpetuate the character, ideals, and goals of Gina, who fought her own battle with colon cancer while serving as a role model for others fighting their own battle, works to alleviate some of the stress, particularly financial barriers, so those brave individuals battling cancer can concentrate on themselves, their families, and getting well. All of these endeavors are made possible by the generous donations of people and local businesses to support the foundation’s fundraising efforts.
We are asking for a contribution of $100 to sponsor a hole during the golf tournament; however, any contribution would help to make this event a success. Each one hundred dollar contributor will have a sign displaying their business name placed on one of the tee boxes throughout the course. Platinum sponsor level includes a hole sponsorship and a team entry for the price $460, as well as special recognition in the tournament program.
