My name is Scott Pendleton Collins. I am an American World War II Soldier
in the 101st Airborne.I am in England training for
the D-Day invasion.
It's June 7, 1944 and the invasionhas started. We have landed at
Omaha beach. The noise is like theworst thunderstorm you have
ever heard.
I didn't think I was going to make it. Igot to the wall where the other guyswere and saw many people dead or
wounded.

It's been two weeks since D-Dayand we are pushing through to
Germany. We went by a beautifulchurch that was badly damaged
by bombs. We have been fightinglike crazy but have not taken
25 miles yet.
It's July 5, 1944. I went on a patrollast night and captured a Germansoldier. My commanding officer
will question him.
It's July 14, 1944. We hold the ridge
and the Germans want to take it. We shot at them and they firedback with tanks and flamethrowers but
we were able to hold the ridge and
the Germans retreated.
