- Helpful Tips to Help Increase Revenue

⇒ Use Promotions to Encourage Bookings: “Managing demand is the act of controlling, directing, influ-

encing and creating consumer demand to purchase at a specific time. One of the key ways a hotel has to influence demand is to use special promotions and events.” Example: Offering a Managers Special with a deep discount through the Toll Free Number with a limited number of rooms creates a demand for remaining room inventory that can be priced at rack rate or a higher rate if optimum conditions occur.

⇒ Know Your Competition: Pegasus offers “Business Intelligence” to keep an eye on what is happening in

your market; however, you can conduct your own research. Example: 1) Visit your competitors property. Bet-ter yet, stay the night. How do they stack up to your inn?; 2) Check them out on the Internet, including property de-scription, room rates, special features and benefits; 3) Do they have a special promotion in place?

⇒ Use Local Resources: Your business is part of the community. Being a member of your Chamber of Com-

merce and Convention & Visitors Bureau is the best way to find out what is going on in your community. This in-cludes learning about new businesses being developed, major construction taking place and what special events are scheduled.

⇒ Be Prepared: Make sure your information is always current in RezView NG. Be sure you have room rates

and room inventory loaded, at the minimum, for 12 months at a time. Don’t forget to update your cancellation and deposit policies if there are any changes. If you need assistance in this area, call HI’s Marketing Team.

Ms. F. Terrell had this to say on July 24, 2009 - “My stay at the Red Carpet Inn on the Lake (Oneonta, NY) was

very enjoyable and comfortable . . . Ms. Mary, the manager of the inn went out of her way to provide me with a very nice room at a very rea-sonable rate. Not only is the setting absolutely gorgeous, but the room was very clean, the bed comfort-

able, and the staff very friendly and helpful. If I ever get to this area again, I would definitely stay here!”

On September 11, 2009, Mr. J. Hilton emailed a compli-ment saying, “I just wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic stay at your Scottish Inns location in Utica, New York. On my next trip to the northeast, I will make sure to stay there again.”
