Monday ANNUNCIATION OF THE LORD Is 7:10-14; 8:10/Ps 40/Heb 10:4-10/Lk 1:26-38Tuesday St. Ludger Dn 3:25. 34-43/Ps 25/Mt. 18:21-35 Wednesday St. John of Egypt Dt 4:1. 5-9/Ps 147/Mt 5:17-19Thursday St. Sixtus III Jer 7:23-28/Ps 95/Lk 11:14-23Friday St. Rupert Hos 14:2-10/Ps 81/Mk 12:28-34Saturday St. John Climacus/BVM Hos 6:1-6/Ps 51/Lk 18:9-14

First Reading: On hearing the cry of misery and hopelessness of the people of Israel, then enslaved in Egypt, God took pity on His people and decided to free them through Moses. (Exodus 3:1-8, 13-15)

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Ps. 103) “The Lord is kind and merciful.. ”

Bless the LORD, O my soul;and all my being, bless his holy name.Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Res

He pardons all your iniquities, heals all your ills,He redeems your life from destruction, crowns you with kindness and compassion. Res

The LORD secures justiceand the rights of all the oppressed. He has made known his ways to Moses, and his deeds to the children of Israel. Res.

Merciful and gracious is the LORD,slow to anger and abounding in kindness. For as the heavens are high above the earth,so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him. Res.

Second Reading: Paul shows that the sacred writers of the bible did not recount ancient traditions to merely inform or entertain us. Rather, authors intended to teach us religious values by narrating those traditions of the past.(Corinthians 10:1-6, 10-12 )

Gospel: The killing of some Galileans and deaths caused by accidents do not mean that those who died were more sinful than others. Jesus uses the story to drive home the lesson that all of us, without exception, are in urgent need of repentance and personal reform at all times. ( )Luke 9:28-36

2. CONFESSIONIn the Our Father one of the petitions is “Give us this day our daily Bread”. This could mean three things:§ 1) physical bread and material sufficiency,§ 2) the Bread of the Word of God, and finally,§ 3) The Bread of Life which is the most Holy Eucharist.

Why not make the intention to attend daily Holy Mass all the days that are possible in the Holy Season of Lent and receive Jesus the Bread of Life. Better still, bring your family or even some friends to the Table of the Lord for the nourishment of their immortal souls. The greatest gesture we can do in this world is to receive Jesus into our hearts in Holy Communion. “As the deer yearns for the running streams, so my soul longs for you O Lord my God.” May we yearn, hunger and thirst for Jesus the Bread of Life!

4. CHARITY: ACTS OF LOVE AND SERVICELent must be characterized by an attitude that translates itself into action through concrete gestures of service toward others. Indeed, if I receive Jesus into my heart in Holy Communion, I should have an ardent desire to bring Jesus to others, especially those who suffer most—the lonely, the poor, the elderly, the abandoned, the street children, the sick, the depressed, and dejected. Remember that these are the favorites of Jesus!

Needless to say, our love in service should start in our own home, amidst and among our family members.
